Range: Australia
Habitat: A wide variety, from woodlands to scrub, to open country - both coastal and inland.
Diet: Roots, shoots, leaves, seeds, fruits, grasses and insects.
Reproductive Behavior: Pairs mate from December through January. A shallow nest is made in the ground and eggs are laid in February through May. Females can lay 5-15 eggs over a period of time. Males incubate the eggs and will rarely eat, drink, party or defecate during the incubation period of approximately 56 days.
Special Features: Females are heavier, usually darker and more argumentative than males. During breeding season, the females develop brighter blue facial skin and become very easily irritated.
