I hate to "hate" on an otherwise good game, but it's such a HUGE part of WWII, that without it, this is way off from being Grand Stratagy. The tech tree is good, battles are a little boring, but all in all, good. There is NO supply chain though. There is for your forces on the ground (local level), but not in the big picture (country level). When Germany needs more oil, it can just get it instantly from Mexico, or anyone else who will sell it to them. Like wise, the German U-boats serve no real purpose (the Battle for the Atlantic doesn't exist) as you can't sink cargo ships and attack convoys as they don't exist. There is no real point to having/building/researching any submarines as they pretty much ineffective in game. But this single point is a show stopper for me.

Update to this from Battlegoat:

"While Supreme Ruler 1936 simulates the wide span of WWII, like other games of the genre we have strengths and weaknesses to what we can simulate in high detail. Naval is currently not a "specialty" of SR1936, though we do have every intention of continuing to improve this area.

UPDATE OCT 20, 2016
I realize this is way late and likely to not be read, but I wanted to write it anyway.

It seems there is some serious issues with balance and economy in the game. Unemployment goes down and never comes back. (I know low unemployment is typicaly a good thing, but too low means you have no workforce to work if you build anything).

I played a game as Brazil and after taking over most all of S. America by 1947, my UnEmpl. is 2.1% and never recovering despite growing in pop by over a million a day due to to immagration.

Where is Steam multiplayer integration?
Where is Naval fixes?
Where the updates they talk so much?

Yeah they have more pirate players playing in game ranger then the Original game.

Game's released and barely anything new but new sprites and a timeline, updates mostly carry fixes and most of all, the battle of atlantic problem hasn't been rectified by an inch...
I deserve this, now i have learned not to buy games when it is in early access.

Battlegoat devs are nice people, but their title feels like a quick money grab.

Did they ever do anything to resolve this as they heavily inferred in this thread they would before it became a full release and not early access?

Thank you deece16. I think I will stick to Hearts of iron 3 to get my WW2 fix until a better game comes along.

@chrisahl

So, the developer completely ignores the main issue at hand here (lack of a supply system) and goes on to say that we should not complain about a lack of features even during early access? You either say it is a planned feature or not, just saying "well, maybe, I don't really know" is teasing and can lead consumers intentionally in the wrong.

You know whether or not a major factor is ever even going to be looked at, as such implementation would drastically change the scope of the game to the point that it can't just be casually implemented at a later date/

hey thanks for the info, supply chains are really important to me, i dont want to insta-buy everything from every country i hope they will work on this

cool thanks

I'll be honest, it seems to me that this is really giving Cold War a face lift and selling it as 1936. There isn't any really big improvemets, it's just that you can play a different time period.
Cooper May 10, 2014 @ 11:07am
Beyond the issues with the submarines and supply chains what did you think of the game play in respect ot land battles? What about economic and diplomacy management have they changed alot since previous games, do they work better?

Mikotaj, this is what I got from Battlegoat:
