Puerto Rico, officially the "Commonwealth of Puerto Rico" is a self governing unincorporated territory of the United States with Commonwealth status located in the northeastern Caribbean, east of the Dominican Republic and west of the Virgin Islands; while Florida's coast is the closest United Sates area to the island. The archipelago of Puerto Rico includes the main island, the smallest of the Greater Antilles, and a number of smaller islands and keys, the largest of which are Mona, Vieques, and Culebra.
