Playtopia open!

Playtopia is an Australian based website which does all sorts of online tournament stuff, gaming community stuff, and hosts a bitchin' LAN in Newcastle.

The idea is to make an online tournament system that works well for people on busy schedules, doesn't punish newbies for being such filthy newbies and allows you to get your game on with your mates in the comfort of your own home and make some dudes squeal. But that's not enough, so to make sure your embarrassing defeat lasts forever, everyone will have the option of grabbing the replays for any tournament, league or ladder match played on Playtopia and take the opportunity to review it.

In addition to that we want to give these tournaments lasting point, and even a tangible reward; the points and titles you earned in those online competitions will count towards your seeding while at the LAN event or maybe even put you in the running for a prize or two. Rest assured those late nights and even later days when you weren't on time for work or school were not completely wasted!

And so the obvious end point to all of this is that we want to host a LAN, a big LAN in fact; perhaps even a revival if you will since we've lost so many LANs to inactivity or absence of management. To those of you who still LAN with your friends down in the garage or simply just play online, to those who talk of large scale LANs dying out altogether and the others who have no idea what the point of LAN really is, to the people who had no idea we had an awesomely singular gaming community in Newcastle at one stage, and to those of you who miss that past glory we used to enjoy -

We need your support.
