You can also easily roll back to other builds with just a few clicks.
Steam is good for the rF2 community, it will unite us all and will bring more people to rF2.
The workshop is great, as it auto-updates your mods.
You can right click on any game in library (rFactor 2 in your case) and in properties untick "Enable steam overlay while in-game"
If you didn't want Steam for it so much, you could have gone on ISI's website and buy the game with lifetime online subscription but it would have cost far more than on Steam..
The Steam overlay is very annoying...when a friend launches a game I get a pop up notification when in car. I realize I can turn the overlay off...but I prefer it on for other games and taking screens. If Steam had the option to turn off only notifications (maybe it does and I'm not aware) it would be much better.
Also, I prefer to keep my install very, very clean. I only have league mod installed and the required tracks at any one time. So synching with Workshop every time I launch is unnceccasary and the delay while it synches gets annoying at every launch. It also seems to 'force' new content downloads on me. No thanks. I prefer to choose what and when I install any new content (official or mods).
Last, I detest background aps running on racenights...and Steam is an intrusive hog at the best of times.
