Simply put, Tim Schafer is God. Gorgeous art design, great voice acting, clever and funny dialogue. A classic adventure game in an era where precious few are even made anymore.

Fun little JRPG-style offering from the same folks that brought you Psychonauts. Sadly, because of the low budget they had to work with, there is no voice acting (one of the areas where Psychonauts shined).

Still, a good intro game for kids to get use to the genre, complete with a combat system resembling a simplified Final Fantasy.

The only game (with the possible exception of Dwarf Fortress) that lets you dig a hole straight to Hell, build a house with what you dug up, then craft a flamethrower and use it to barbecue unicorns.

At its core, Terraria is an old-school 8-bit platformer in sandbox mode. Tons of fun if you're the kind who likes exploration for its own sake, or building ridiculous megaprojects just because you can.
