Sometimes both, I create a level say with 1 floor, I add an NPC and movement and dialogue and sometimes it will crash and generally not work. This happened a few times with levels I made involving the fans, adding multiple characters movement, dialogue etc.

If I make a 2 floor level, having only dialogue on the first level, and a more advanced cutscene on the second level involving item activation, NPC movement. etc will generally cause a blackscreen resulting in a crash, this can happen on either the First or Second floor, I don't really know what causes this however.

Most of my cutscene crashes involve having item activation on any floor can cause the game to crash. For some reason that's why it happens.

I'm currently editing some levels to find any more bugs to see if I can get into any more detail with the problems I have experienced.
ok, so just wanna make sure, you write "sometimes" and "a few times", so it's not always blackscreen when you create more complicated cut-scenes? you have gotten a bigger cut-scene to run?

Happy to help! I've found a few more bugs that greatly effect the Cutscene creator too.

For me, I can create a cutscene with dialogue on a single floor, this works. Now when I get complicated and try to add character and NPC movement, animating and item activation, this causes my game to blackscreen upon loading the floor when playing the level, which leads to crash and autoquit. Most of the problems I've had involves item activation, but only if it happens on multiple floors specifically.

Basically, I can have simple dialogue and sounds (Which I used well in a certain level I've made involving hammer) I made it so when the character spawns on a trigger during the second floor, it will activate an item and what is planned, Dialogue and eventually the level ending.
This results in a crash.



Occasionally just trying to load a level causes a crash.

NPC's will dissapear along with cutscenes, they will end up on another level I made and then after relogging return to the original level, sometimes working, sometimes crashing.

I've noticed that once the game goes blackscreen upon loading a cutscene, it freaks out and the cutscene unloads causing a crash. Relogging and editing shows the cutscene has dissapeared and occasionally deleted itself and advanced cutscenes or generally long cutscenes will just not work.


So far I love the editor and I adore the ability to create my own levels and lore with Hammer, I'm glad you also respond as developers to bug reports and have fixed some problems beforehand which fixed the editor itself!

I've also found cutscenes swapping between to floors, for example.

Floor 1 Originally: "This place is a dump"
Floor 2 Originally: "Damn how many people did I just kill?"

Floor 1 After Bug: "Damn how many people did I just kill?"
Floor 2 After Bug: "Damn how many people did I just kill?"

I've found that changing from the first floor to the second floor via the editing screen causes this when play-testing. Same sometimes with just generally playing the level.

We are working the issues people have with creating cut-scenes above the first floor. Please state your problem in this thread:

So we've seen that people have problems with crashes when they have created cut-scenes on floors above the first one (when you have to use the ? dummy for asigning action to the player). The problem is that we are not able to reproduce any of them. So please add a comment explaing what your issue have been and we take it from there!

this is clearly not a bug. knife swing speed is completely ridiculous and melee is already OP. Biker's got improved mechanics now, imo.

also biker's throwing knives still disappear when hitting doors. idk if it's possible to have them lodged in the doors since the doors move but like maybe have them just rest on the floor around the doors?
This is what they are suppose to do (and are doing when i test it) Please try again and if it's still not working maybe uplaod the level somewhere and i can try it out.

it's caused because the game needs a second to save the checkpoint. Not much we can do about it. When designing levels it's always good to place the character outside the level so it takes a bit for the player to reach the first room (and let the game have time to save the checkpoint).
We won't delete any but they might not work after the Beta is over as we sometimes need to change bigger peices of code to fix bugs. Like this new update we released yesterday might break some cut scenes people have done before the update. All the info about this can be found on our blog!

Nope, the weapon gets deleted with nothing in Jacket's hands unless you put down a Jacket masked with the 'Willem' mask. (aka Rip and Tear)

Yes I am still getting this bug. Also, out of interest, I beat the level a second time and when I cleared the first floor it said that the level had been completed and the ambience track began playing. But I could still go into the next floor and play it while the Ambient music was still playing. Weird. I made a backup save file, but the beta update didn't corrupt the save game anyway so everything's fine. I'm using Windows 10 Pro 64-bit OS if it helps to others with similar question. Thanks for your quick response.
Just keep a save file of the orginal game for now. We have seen a few corrupt savefiles after a while just so you know!

I don't think its a problem, thats just what it does to save as of now. Takes a long time I know but I think its just saving it
It can be corrupt savefiles (how big is that level's folder?)

I don't know how I could recreate that, but my second floor started on the bottom screen and the transition back to the first was at the bottom of the map too, but the character spawned at the top of the screen and out of the map instead, where I did not intend, and I got stuck as I was unable to walk into the actual floor.
hmm, maybe when he entered the level he ended up in a wall (and moved by the game to nearest place where he wouldn't be stuck). If you create another 2 floor level and it's still there please save it and upload it for me to check out! thanks!
