DO NOT BUY, this game could still be fun if you just want to manage a base with minimal things to do, well even if your having fun with that youll be attacked by a stupid large force of pirates at some point and youll watch everyone die.

NO SAVES
BASIC BUILDING
CAMERA MOVEMENT SUCKS
WHO MADE THIS!!

Does anyone else notice the final fantasy themed menu music? maybe its just me.
Well im writing this review even though i havnt played much of the game because well i CANT
10 to 15 min into the game it crashes and i have to reset my comp.

anyway i have 10-15 min experiance so here it goes.
graphics are nice and modern except youd think in games these days people wouldnt walk through doors..lazy animation? and i thought they said that youd see a bustlign city full of life....sure there are a few guards the few clipping animations of people but not much else.

music is great on the menu screen!......what happened in the game?

Diplomacy? DOUBLE YOUR OFFER AND WE CAN TALK.....(sigh) oh by the way you got 3 chances and anananana hands in my ears ( i caaannntttt hear you)....ugh

SO heres a rundown on what you do in the game. you start with a city and press on the city then press on the individual buildings for what they do. you have control over the trader scout and builders and can upgrade the cities using mony and development. however you have to set up trade routs roads and other towns to trade for money to make money which i guess could be time consuming but i wouldnt know BECAUSE I CAN ONLY PLAY FOR 10-15 MIN.

THAT grip aside i kind of see this game as being short lived....if i could play.....

anyway look at the video it tells you basicaly EVERYTHING you need to know about the game.

PS NOT TOTAL WAR <- had to add that lol :)

(updated): After playing longer the family mechanics need to be watched closely in the grand campaign dont do like me and forget to update only to have all your generals loose loyalty and revolt completly making you loose your mind. it is a nice addition of complexity to each turn that might become tedious later in game as your start to notice its importance. (STILL no convinsed on hords lol)

Pro's:
-Graphical increase scales nicely
-Difficulty
-New management sysems more in depth management of family
-UI throwback to the midevil total war system of upgrading units by having upgrade trees nothing you wont instantly recognise if your a vet
-Vets will have no problem jumping in
-Dificulty increased
-Units attack and defend smoothly you dont seem to have the 5 min stand offs that ROME had.
-Better tech tree's "IMO"
-Faster Load times!
-You can assign offices and region Governerors
-Additions of mechanics dating back to midevil total war like the tree look and upgrades of characters.
-Family mechanics! added complexity to each turn!
Pro/Con:
hords after playing for a while im editing this to say that the computer makes use of this mechanic for no apperant reason so im still not convinsed it works as intended.

CON:
Hords? this is a personal opinion however. you might like :)
Bugs that cause crash to desktop (since this is a day one review) 2 times so far
Performance suffers

I cant think of many cons right now except for whats listed.

Attila is a nice change of pace from Rome, it is harder especially if you try the crumbling empires. The new mechanics added to the game are basically overhauled tech tree with more tech to choose from. Family mechanics however these are easy and havnt impacted my games but could have if i didnt pay attention. The battles seem to flow better the units attack swiftly so i dont feel like im watching a stale mate when heavies are attacking each other which is nice. The biggest addition though if your coming from ROME is the addition of migration and hords, you can abbandon your settlements and turn your whole civilization into a hord which makes all your towns into units that can settle. you can upgrade your hords with buildings etc however you wont get the raw income like a city however your mobile. the downside to this is when you convert you loose all your upgrades and buildings, then you have to start over when you settle your hord. so basically you use it as a last ditch effort to run but if your doing that bad chances are your not going to last long anyway. one way to use Abbandon is if you see a large army coming to attack your settlement you can abbandon it for cash but you loose everything doing so gaining money. (not allot eather) They have brought back marriges and a few old family mechanics from the older games that seem familier however i cant remeber to pin point it for you.

Honestly I like the changes and additions however if you really like rome and your on the fence on buying due to the price i would honestly wait for a sale since the additions add to the game however dont feel like they are really all that important. one game i barely used the family tree and won the campaign so i dont know if it impacts to much (i will update on after a grand campaign) so to sum it up i feel like this game is Rome with the mechanics of the previous games like midevil adding hords that you really dont use unless you have to (the huns start as hords) its a fun step in the right direction.

This is my first edit to my review since i have played the game longer.
THIS IS NOT HOMEWORLD, and IT IS NOT LIKE HOMEWORLD. So please don’t buy this game thinking that’s what you’re going to get. The game plays more like ORB if anyone ever played that game!
Pro:
Good graphics
Rts gameplay
ok storytelling (i haven’t done much to make a fair assessment)
Con:
Ai is kind of cheap on higher difficulties and on lower ones just dumb almost tower defense.
bugs (but it just came out so expect some) crashes.
Building is only allowed on circles that give you infinite resources.
There is a tech tree but is limited to only the ships you can build, no researching for upgrades.

I will define how a skirmish/mission plays out for prospective RTS buyers.
You start with a few like 6 ships of different types dreadnaughts XL's etc. each ship counters a different type like a fighter counters a bomber bombers counter corvettes etc. i will not insult RTS players intelligence going forward lol. so you go and find these large circles that have resource points. you can build turrets on these and gain infinite resources and defenses/repairs. there are no buildings the AI tends to just send ships at you without any regard or strategy....maybe go around that huge cluster of ships? naaa GO THROUGH IT AI FTW! you continue on like this until one of you dies the end. The campaign is not so bad but there really isnt complexity to the commanders/people you get to be in your fleet. I will recommend this game however i just want to reiterate, this is not HOMEWORLD, the only reason i say this is because this was a big factor when i bought it due to other reviews.

Need a Walking dead fix? This won't disappoint! The game plays like a interactive movie that allows you to make decisions that affect the outcome of the characters around you. Will you save the young man or the older man who was nicer to you but got bitten? Its a choice but it ends up being a hard one to make. This is just one of many you'll face when surviving the forest of the dead.
Pro's:
Excellent story with interaction.
Your choices do matter albeit only to characters to the current problem and situation
Great graphics makes me feel like a interactive comic book!
Cons:
This is not a game you walk around and explore, its on rails, however like mentioned before its a interactive movie!
Your choices do not effect the game as a whole, only who end up in the next section etc.
Everyone dies LOL but you know that's walking dead DON'T GET ATTACHED TO ANYONE

I recommend this to anyone who truly want to be entertained without having to do allot of ""playing"" but you do have to pay attention, your choices have surprising consequences! Play nice, be nice? Get screwed! Remember that LOL here...
