Early Access Review
Game of the Year - When it finally Releases.

Yes this early access. But I was blown away! I don't want to spoil anything but there is song played in the game that melted my heart in the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_ZBwWkhGTw

I can see this game bloom as it draws you into a RPG drama as well as flashing swords and thundering magic.

This game has such potential to have a soul with its beauty of scenery and landscape. There is an epic bursting at the seams and you can feel it around the corner.

Yes... there is a lot that needs improvement!

Its going to become a classic which other RPG games of its type will draw inspiration and comparisons.

All we have to do is have fun and play this great early access game.

(I'm playing it again because I missed stuff!)

Okay the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

GOOD
The game is chalked full of great music! This helps add to some of the flavor of the world. I love the feel of the world and some of the NPC's you meet along the way. It scratches the Wing Commander and Freelancer itch of by gone years. The bar is a great way to get some gear. Play against the patrons which offer you upgrades.

BAD
I'm playing on the easiest level and man it had me sweating bullets. You start in garbage scow. Basically a flying brick with a huge target on its back. I had to grind out cargo runs to get some basic equipment. Going on combat runs in the starter ship is close to suicide if don't have the right upgraded gear. I spent more time with my finger on the afterburners instead of fighting.

UGLY
Okay the game is grindy until you can get some better gear. Mainly a ship that does not suck! To do that you take on missions like cargo runs which are usually pretty safe. Combat runs can cost you time and money because your ship gets shot up and your spending hard won loot to re-arm / repair. I found the best way to make loot is mining! With mining you can make 20k - 40k in the Texas home system as a good starting point. This is far better then your standard crummy combat runs and luke warm cargo missions. Also the time is minimal around 10 or so minutes a pop to fill your cargo hold. (Note: This might take longer in a bigger ship)

Here is a link to a mining guide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0u1ywYzlJs&t=100s

SUMMARY
The game is fun with the right gear and ship. Get out of the Garbage Scow and have plenty of the upgrades before tackling harder fights. Use mining as a fast way to make cash and to buy the upgrades you will need. Fighting will be a little better once you have enough money / gear / ship.

Good luck Citizen and watch your six.

Hello, fellow gamers!

I picked this game on sale and boy what a great value! I completed a normal run and had a fantastic time!
If you like turned based games and squad tactics this might be right up your alley. The designers did a very job in getting you into the action! Its less about base management and more about the synergy between your squad members. It feels similar to a law enforcement show but with aliens. The story is colorful and gives a solid backdrop that your characters help fill. There is some very fun moments with the banter between squad members. I found my self smiling and wishing that the game went on and on! I am looking forward to trying it on a harder difficulty and developing different squad members.

If your looking for a turn based game that if filled with fun and with a lot of heart! This is the one!
Rating of fun 4.5 out of 5.

This game has a mech type that will match your play style. The mech I started with the Loki or Hellbringer. This is still my favorite mech to play. So as a free to play game goes its fun! I play with other mechs but it has a special place in my heart. You can customize your skills to fit the mech load out you wish to play. The game is easy to play but difficult to master. Like any simulation where there are different machines with load outs. It is helpful to know the loadouts and variants of mechs you are facing. Also using the terrain and knowing the maps is very helpful. You will have fun finding your niche in the game and the mech your best suited to pilot. Lots of great Youtube videos can help. Baradul is fun to watch and has lots of content that may help. Finally a good community. Stay safe and watch your six.

This review is three thumbs up!

Can a game become a great successor to the classic. The answer yes it can with heart and soul.

First I want to clarify that I love the original XCOM and think it is in my top 10 games of all times.

But I love this game. Why... one mission sums it up. My soldiers had to extract a VIP but two different aliens squads were unleashed and swarming my squad. I had to get the VIP and the squad out. Four out of five could make it but one had to be sacrificed. With the enemy on over watch I had to trigger some of the shots so the VIP could make a run for it. I selected Collette Ferro my grenadier and tank since she was the furthest behind. (With time out I had to use full movement to make it to the extraction) Collette ran forward first taking a hail a fire and surviving with 2 health but just short of the extraction point. The rest of the team ran forward with the VIP and make it out. The soldier sacrificed herself for the squad is how I imagined it. Collette survived but got captured... My veteran, my point, a leader for the team...

The game gives you a chance to develop your people, your crew... A team to fight against a common enemy... The story pulls you in and gives you memories... both good and sad. There’s a wall dedicated to your fallen comrades - These little touches bring a sense of care and craftsmanship that go into a phenomenal game!

Pros:
1. Character Customization is off the charts awesome!
2. Weapon Customization - Ever want to make the most awesome sniper rifle. Well you can here!
3. You can select the class through training.
4. Mods - Oh my gosh have you seen the choices! People are so cool bringing their idea in this community.
5. Artwork is excellent but has the hint of dread. That creeps under your skin.
6. Storyline and strategy brings difficult choices with the perfect amount of management.
7. Sounds, music score, languages and voices are Good.
8. Ship customization, research and crew management has the perfect flow.
9. AI is fair... I mean it is extremely difficult to get the balance right. (The balance of difficulty and playing smart is okay)
10. Awesome attention to detail... The game is a master craft of fun... JUMP IN! You will have hours and hours of replayability.

Cons
1. Some minor clipping issues and cosmetic bugs.

What makes a game great... people do. I want to thank Fraxis and the staff of XCOM... I love this game.
FIN – Get this game. Get this game for your friends.

Shadowrun Hong Kong rocks the casbah!

5 out of 5 Stars (So Far)

The game is the third installment as a standalone game from Harebrained Schemes.

- The music is awesome and helps highlight the gritty flavor of the world. I could feel myself reacting with chills to the ambience.

- The Artwork is edgy and shows a well thoughtout pallet of color. The vibrant dragonfly like illumination is contrasted by the subtle touch of shadows. Care and thought has gone into this masterwork. At times I would stop and look at the different screens and sigh...

- This story arc captures the soul or essence of Shadowrun. I found the PC and NPC characters in the story to be interesting, distinct, and engaging. You can feel the affection and effort the game designers took with Hong Kong.

- I heartly recommend Shadowrun Hong Kong for it's polished story, music and artwork. (Sign me up from more!)

Recommendation - Not so much (After about 5 + hours)

I love Space Sims so I try a new one every now and again. This is not Freespace2, Freelancer, Wing Commander or the Alpha of Star Citizen. This is a mission to mission game where a single failure and you cannot move on.

Pros
1. Easy to play

Cons
1. On the rail format for story - (You pass or fail a mission but cannot move on if you fail)
2. No customization for ships.
3. No choice for load out.
4. Cardboard props for characters.
5. No interest in re-play.
6. Voice acting... Meh.

So why should you play. Well to be honest if you need to blow stuff up without caring of story or characters than this can get you by.
