A criminally underrated game. yes it has its share of rough edges (Obsidian up to it's old tricks I guess) but given the dearth of good Spy games I am willing to forgive a whole helluva lot. I thoroughly enjoyed the globe-trotting espionage and lethal action of the game. few games this side of Deus Ex have choices as deep and and as meaningful as Aplpha Protocol. Give it a try if you are tolerant of some flaws but want an engrossing Spy RPG.
Oh. My. GOD - this game is teh AWESOME!!!!!!! It's like Thief, X-COM, Baldur's Gate, Deus Ex, Planescape Torment, Wing Commander, Fallout, X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter, Warcraft 2, Metroid, Super Mario, Privateer, Quake 2, Prince of Persia, Day of the Tentacle, Unreal Tournament, Simcity, Populous, Doom, Elite, Grim Fandango, Zelda, Civilization, Starcraft, and the Half-Life series all rolled into one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also will never forgive Creston for trolling/gifting it to me, the bastard. Now everyone thinks I like trucks and snuggling. Which i don't. At all.
A very well-made game. It reminds me a lot of Starcraft - particularly the alien side. There's a learning curve, but it isn't too steep - just don't expect to learn all of the mechanics in your first match. The two very different sides makes for some interesting action. Natural Selection's biggest flaw for me is the requirement to play with other people, though admittedly that's a flaw for me of every single multiplayer game out there, so take it from where it is coming. I can't say very much good about the community, as there are a lot of rude people who will waste no time in berating you for making rookie mistakes (despite the fact that you are a rookie as indicated by your name being written in green on the player list) . I personally have a low tolerance for crap like that, but if you can ignore it and are lucky enough to get involved in balanced matches (without douches) there is some serious fun to be had.
