It's a classic, though not without it's faults. This is my first time playing it all the way through in like 30 years and it's way more confusing than I remember it being. There are too many passages and areas that are not marked or even giving a hint as to where to go. So it's a lot of aimless backtracking, etc. Also, it's 2024 and not being able to save anywhere is unforgivable (some of us work for a living).

DF2 is still a better game and will always be my favorite of this franchise, but still this one is reasonably fun to play.

Graphics, music, sound and the overall concept are fantastic. Movement is smooth and flowing. However...

I absolutely hate the controls. They are too wonky and it's hard to steer as freely as I would have liked. Gliding for long periods of time is a pain to get the momentum going and it's a chore to get the sphere to cooperate on the ground sometimes.

I would give this a so-so rating, but since the controls dominate the entire game and suck enough I just can't recommend.

I like the concept, the music is beautiful, and it's fun to play a game that requires a bit of brain activity. I am not crazy about the limited combat, and some of the later puzzles get more abstract, with a lot of back tracking and puzzles within puzzles. I'll recommend it if you want to play something different, but otherwise meh. I would give it a so-so rating if possible, but it didn't hold my interest enough for me to even finish it and can't ever see myself going back to it.

I like the game somewhat, but some issues with it prevent me from recommending:

1. Time changes way too fast. It's like you just get started and the day is over with already.

2. The ship takes damage way to easily. I've done real fishing in 8-15 foot waves - We never got a scratch on the boat.

3. There should only be one merchant that you can buy or sell everything with. The separation of those things by fish, shipyard, etc is pointless.

4. From a story stand point, the characters that you do tasks for are generally unpleasant. Who would want to go on a fetch quest for someone that acts like an a_hole with a major superiority complex towards them? In real life, I would have sailed away to somewhere else.

5. I won't give it away, but there is one part of the game where you have to bait some traps. There is zero feedback from the game that you did it correctly and I spent a lot of time driving around to the other traps guessing if it was right. Spoiler alert: I still don't know.

6. The horror elements are stupid and take away from the main part of the game. I would have enjoyed it more if just a straight forward fishing/upgrading/exploring/dredging adventure game in a chill format. Even with turning off the monsters' ability to attack you, it's just not fun to me. I would have liked exploring more and maybe solving a pirate mystery or something.

Sorry game makers, but I am deep sixing Dredge to the "Not recommended" rating.

Looks better than the original and doesn't hurt my eyes anywhere near as much.

As a HUGE fan of the original game, I wish I could give this a so-so rating but there is too much wrong with it currently so I cannot recommend it.

+ Engaging story
+ Nice Cyberpunk world

+/- A zoom feature would have been nice to have in some areas just to bring the characters a little closer to the screen

- The controls are clunky and nowhere near as fluid as the original
- Graphics need to be optimized to be smoother
- English voice acting sucks in most places - I would have just preferred all text captions, or the ability to turn off the voice altogether and read captions
- Bug #1: I just was playing and my character got stuck in an area. When trying to reload a game, the nearest save was 40 minutes behind, so I lost all my progress
- Bug #2: When trying to rescue someone you have to take an elevator to get to them but the call button for the elevator does not work, so I am completely stuck at that point in the game and cannot progress any further.
- The saving system either is bugged or only allows you to save one time.

For now, wait until they patch it. I will change my rating if/when the game is improved.

As many others have said in their reviews, this game is like being inside the first movie. It has all the main elements (action, humor, sound and music, the run down city, etc) that made the movie so iconic. Voice acting is pretty good, and Peter Weller returns as Murphy.

What I like about it most though is that you get to act as a "real" police officer: Examine crime scenes, issue tickets, interview witnesses, get a warrant, etc. which adds to much more to the game than just being a FPS.

The only negatives (so far) that I can see are that the first time I booted it up I had a black screen and had to close it out, (fixed automatically on 3rd boot) and it has some pretty big gaps in the autosaves (seriously Devs - give us manual saves). Otherwise, it's an enjoyable game.

Excellent level design and much larger areas to do combat in. Tons of hidden areas. Great add on to the main game. However, there is a hover bike section that made me sick to play and I couldn't finish it, even using cheats.

It's a good continuation of the base game, but there's nothing super special about it. I'd wait for a sale.
