ok due to demands from other gays (mostly lopert) im going to be posting my thoughts on this. If you've watched the show at all, you know kate has been an annoying bitch towards jon a lotttttttt. And on top of that, they decided that jon didn't need to work, since kate became a millionaire with all her books and what not. Jon probably felt all demasculated and wanted to rebel or something, so he figured he'd have an affair! If you've seen the ep. you'll see how defiant he was til the end, while kate (it seemed) was genuinely trying to fix their marriage. At this point, i would say im on kate's side, just because jon has acted like a child, even though it's pretty clear he gets whatever he wants (ie. a motorcycle by orange county choppers..WTF?). DEF feel bad for the kids though :[
