It was on sale, forgot how long, repetitive and boring it was, just finishing it for the bucket list.

*Note: have not played it all the way through yet.

Does Correctly:
- treats the source material respectfully
- pixel art and animation are top tier
- game play is easy to get into for fans and non fans of both the source material & genre of play-style.
- The story is, no major spoilers, a sad one but also gives some closure to unanswered questions for those who ONLY watched the short anime series and not all the manga themselves.

About the length and difficulty:
- It is not SOTN and I am glad it is not of this length with that degree of backtracking. A good game that pulls you and gives you some level of challenge (varied for some) defines itself. Making this story longer for now would just be painful and become a chore not a fun experience.
- the difficulty for seasoned gamers is not high so obsessive Metroidvania players should avoid this or wait for a sale.
- the difficulty IS good and solid for the average player and casual gamer but involved Manga fan. So I think this achieved its goal.

Summary: I was proud to support this dev team for all the reasons above and hope they continue making better and better games of various genre.

I am going through this title because it is in my bucket list and I promised myself I will finish all the titles I buy (eventually haha). I REALLY wanted to like this game but I cannot recommend it for the following:
- Horribly repetitive enemy encounters with almost no variety or variety that actually would impact how you play the game or approach them.
- This may sound like a contradiction but the spell crafting system is so convoluted and uninteresting that it becomes the least interesting thing about the game and has limited impact again on how you play the game.
- the time it takes to get all the types of magic and build them up effectively is... not worth the effort and you are better off with the few you have built up early in the game. My personal preference for easy cakewalk is Phase, Necromancy and either Ice or Kinesis.

I will like to add that this game could have been a magical and more serious take on Bulletstorm rewarding the player with ingenious and creative ways to destroy enemies but this never comes across. There just isn't the applied and reactive variety of the weapons and the monsters. The art is nice, voice acting is good and the effects are very pretty. But so far---- if you do decide to go through it- don't play it all in one shot or you will bore yourself to death and have regret- take it in metered doses like a bad weekly tv show...

I first became aware of this title on Twitter and loved the art style primarily and the gun play seemed satisfying. I also decided to buy this game to support the developers. This game IMO has a slow and unsatisfying ability level up system, very boring & redundant map layouts(at least it has a map legend), repetitive enemy and boss fight interaction and does not provide much of a challenge even on the hardest difficulty setting. They do a nice job of allowing you to choose your upgrade direction- but some abilities are either necessary to get through the game without getting irritated or are of almost no value to explore advancing. If I had paid 1/4th the price for it, I wouldn't mind so much but I do not recommend this unless its under 5 bucks. There are definitely much more satisfying options out there.

Fun gameplay, rough around the edges, with just the right amount of creepy uncomfortable feeling throughout. Hope there is a sequel, Id pay for it too!
