Tips for playing TF2
Rule #1: Teamwork.
Pay attention to what's going on around you. You are not the only one on your team. Help out your teammates, ESPECIALLY the medic. Do not abandon your medic, PROTECT HIM. He keeps you alive, you should do the same. Try to travel with others, unless you're a spy, but we'll get to that later. If you have a mic, call out enemies like snipers and spies when you see them. If you're with a medic, tell the medic to hide or stay back or get behind you, etc, to keep him safe.
Rule #2: Refer to rule number one.
Scouts: Run around like crazy, shoot enemies with the shotgun, jump on top of things, run through teammates to make sure they're not spies. Try not to die.
Soldiers: Blow stuff up with your rocket launcher, protect your medic, let your rocket launcher reload all the way before firing again, and find cover while it does so. Switch to your shotgun if your rocket launcher runs out and there's no cover. Crouch while rocket-jumping. Sound angry. Pretend you're faster.
Pyros: Use your compression blast! With it you can put out fires, reflect rockets/arrows/bombs, push enemies away, trap enemies, contend with and counter ubers, and just generally be a nuisance. Try to get people to understand when you want a dispenser. Try to get the medic's attention. Die a lot by charging straight in, or waiting for the medic's attention.
Demoman: Use your grenades most. Set traps with stickies. Crouch while bomb-jumping. Use your bottle on those damned scouts. Get sniped a lot.
Heavy: I don't play heavy, but here's what I've gathered: Jump out from a corner and spin your gun as you fall; this will give you a wider firing range and surprise your enemies. Punch things. Try to be faster. Watch out for that spy, watch out for that sniper.
Engineer: Rotate your sentries(attack2) and teleport exits so that they point in the right direction. Don't build on stairways; a good player will easily get around them. If you happen to get a sentry into the intel room, stay away from the desk; picking up the intel will give your position away and call attention to the intel room, especially if you stay and try to complete your building. If your sentry gets destroyed, and the enemy is camping your spawn, switch to a more effective class until there's a way to build another sentry gun.
Medic: HEAL YOUR TEAMMATES!!! Even if you're doing the battle medic thing (which is rarely a good idea, btw), heal any teammates who need it. Keep everyone you can at 150% hp, so that they survive longer. Try not to die, and use your patient as a meat shield whenever necessary. Communicate with your patient. Do as he says, or tell him what to do. Call out enemies you see. Tell him to retreat if it's clear that you're about to die or your uber isn't enough to get through. Warn him when you're going to uber, but let him reload if he needs it.
