I recommend getting the game when its on sale. The campaign story is great, especially if you liked the homeworld series. I felt the UI and way you command your units was okay... I felt the homeworld control scheme worked better in 3D space and not as well on the ground. I found it difficult to position units facing the direction I wanted with the way the terrain works. I also found it really hard to see the terrain layout without constantly whipping the camera around which sometimes caused me to lose sight of what was going on and die. I thought using fighters from your carrier was super fun and satisfying, but the way you launch them from the carrier is weird (I wish you could put them on a hotkey instead of constantly having to go back to the carrier UI). The game is fun, but I felt frustrated with many of the UI and control elements.
