Dave the Diver is an amazing title.
At surface-level, the game puts you in control of Dave who wades through a slice of the ocean collecting fish during the day-time. The acquired fish are used by his buddy, Bancho, in the kitchen at a sushi restaurant- where Dave works as a server during the night.

Taking a deeper dive, the game is a resource-management sim with mechanics that streamline supplying the restaurant and the operational workflows of running it. Each day is exciting as the story gives you a reason for each dive which takes you further into the ocean. From acquiring materials to craft upgrades, to preparing for dinner parties which have requested specific dishes, to seeking big-game fish to make some coin- it’s never boring going into the sea.

Some critics have panned this game for being not being cozy enough or for being too repetitive. I’d submit that the game is relaxing and tranquil- and when sharks hit the fan- the only penalty for running out of oxygen (death) is that you lose whatever you had in your pockets during your rescue. Boss fights are pretty straight forward, dying during them starts the fight over- sparing you the effort of having to repeat the day\dive. It’s not stressful. As far as repetitive-ness goes: dives can be 5 minutes or 40, that’s entirely your call. There are a wealth of challenges and minigames that you can opt into making dives more interesting or purpose-driven. There’s more than one way to catch fish, some of which result in bigger yields.
Most importantly: this game is incredibly easy to pick up and put down. The controls are equally good on keyboard\mouse and controller. The game is great on the Steam Deck if that’s your jam. The soundtrack is great. The art is amazing and colorful despite being pixilated. There’s lots of humorous chuckles and the all the characters are fun. Gaming mechanics are introduced gradually and in an order that eases the player in. The game is not short and is worth the full price of $20.
I do not look forward to the day that I get 100% of achievements and finish the main story- as I will miss this game dearly.

As a huge Dead Space fan, I went into this remake completely skeptical as the OG Dead Space was just fine and is still terrifying to play today. The 2023 Dead Space is amazing. It's practically the same game with updated graphics but modern and stunning graphics. Would recommend it to anyone interested in Dead Space and to veteran players.

If you liked any of those fixed-camera survival horror games from the 1990s - such as Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, and Silent Hill - then you'll like Signalis. The theme is: you're an android looking for another android on a space station that's over run by shuffling baddies.

Sounds lame? Don't worry; all your favorite game elements are there to keep your interest. Puzzles. Guns- with very limited ammo. First aid sprays. Keys. Doors that unlock from the other side. A radio. Memos. Oppressively small inventories. And of course: storage chests.

Great fun with friends. Enough game mechanics to keep things interesting from session-to-session. In-game chat is excellent.

Short Version: Stop reading all other reviews; don't buy this game.
Whole Review: This War of Mine is a side scrolling adventure game donning a very powerful theme of being a civilian during a military conflict/rebellion/etc in a fictitious country. You start the game with literally nothing and have to ransack an abandoned war-torn building, which becomes your base of operations, to recover from hunger and fatigue. To keep your civilian(s) alive and well, you must source food, medical supplies, water, eventually heat, firearms for defense, building materials to fortify the building. Challenges like armed thugs and physical obstacles which will require tools to be crafted can be expected from any game; This War of Mine keeps it interesting. Not every NPC is an “enemy” so your civilian(s) will react negatively to stealing from or killing other civilians. Inventory at the base is unlimited but in the field it’s pretty restrictive- downright minimal if you’re going out to scavenge while equipped with tools and weapons. The theme keeps what could be a simple game extremely engaging with the theme, music, and camera work.

The combat in this game is so poorly designed that it is literally unplayable. I can’t stress this enough: un-play-a-ble.

There is no tutorial on combat. You will die at the hands of your first armed assailant. You will Google it. You will be confused further. You will quit forever or start the game over.
If you power through it, you’ll figure out how to wield a melee weapon. You will die again while instructing your civ to attack someone who’s trying to murder you. The exact circumstance may vary, but you will be hammering away at your mouse/board/controller screaming YOU ARE BEING [attacked] AT STOP [adverb]ING AND [expletive]ING FIGHT BACK. Then you will die. Then you will press Alt+F4 (save points are at the end of night encounters).
If you repeat this process enough and don’t actually die in real life from your blood pressure spiking, you will identify that the action button does not initiate attacks and deduce that there must be a dedicated button. If you are quarantined due to an IRL global health concern, you will qualify what the attack button is and you will read something on the internet about ‘backstabbing’. If you are stubborn, you will fire the game back up and attempt to stealth your way upto an attacker.
If you succeed in stealthing your way up to and backstab an NPC, excellent. If you fail to backstab, you will just stab, and there’s actually a decent chance you’ll frantically repeatedly stab at your now-victim.
The fact that combat is such a crucial part of the game, and that it’s so poorly setup, makes this game something I can’t recommend.

Payday 2 in 2020?
For players who started in something like 2014- the game has hit an all-time high. Overkill deserves recognition for scaling the game to grow with the player-base to stay challenging and interesting as they progress through their criminal career. With Casual and Hard-As-Nails difficulty settings, tons of missions, a comprehensive skill tree, and a versatile weapons and attachments system (finally feels like it's matured), the fun factor is still there.
For new players? The game is almost impossible to get into without a chaperone. Payday 2’s narrative was established by a lengthy live-action web series that started in 2012, and has been driven by cut scenes that show up whenever new content is added to the game- this can alienate new players. The Payday Universe can feel too big and overwhelming at first.

Ultimately the game is still boatloads of fun to play. The original soundtrack has aged but is still phenomenal and gets me pumped when run-and-gunning to go get the thermal drill. If you are a fan of the 4 person PvE co-op genre, and you enjoyed playing cops and robbers as a kid, you need to play this game. You will be so blown away by all the action that you will neeeeeeed a medic bag.

Easy to get into; very fun. The time-moves-when-you-move mechanic is truly unique and the levels present you with new challenges. SuperHot is the most innovative shooter I've played in years.

Early Access Review
It's just too early access.
Not enough to gather, not enough mid-high range structures.
Combat is on dimensional.
Animals are overpowered and lame. Zombies should never have been removed.

Gets real boring after your first week of playing with new people that have the decency to not kill you.

NOTICE: This review was written THE DAY OF CATZILLA'S LAUNCH and does not reflect the most recent updates that have been implemented.

Wow do I regret buying this. The Steam version of this application doesn't seem to line up with any of the paid versions you can get through AllBenchmark. It doesn't seem to want to play ball with their online score recording at all. It wont save historic scores, you can't upload scores to your website, you can't push your scores to facebook, you can't even save your score and go back to it later. Once you close the application the scores get wiped. And the syndicated sign-on part of things is just horrible. The amount of times I've tried to log into their website using Facebook sign on and the browser just ends up in a redirect loop. It's a horrible experience. I regret buying this, I want my money back, steer clear...

This reboot of Tomb Raider was praised for it's new approach to the Lara Croft character. What you may not have read about is the gripping story writing, white knuckled action, and refined gameplay. If you enjoyed Assassin's Creed and Batman Arkham City- you will adore the Tomb Raider remake.
