I have been a Mechwarrior and Battletech fanboy since my teens. (I'm nearly 40 ;) now). So my review is to an extent biased.

So far I can't find any significant fault with the game. My system isn't the best but it handles it well and even leaving the game going for over a day repeatedly tabbing without a crash in sight.

This is Battletech tabletop digitised in the most beautiful way. The mechs are gorgeous, the scenery amazing. The storyline and narrative thus far have captivated the same spirit that reading the books for the first time years ago evoked.

This game has so much to offer for fans and newcomers alike, I simply couldn't do it full justice trying to describe the depth and thought that has gone into this game. Try it for yourself and you won't regret it. 9.6/10

Very few games prompt me to write a review. Truth be told I'd rather be playing them than writing about them. With this review I really wanted to get across my experiences of the game.

A lot of other reviewers have bad mouthed this game going as far as to write discussions stating the game is robbing players. How????? When its free to play I don't know.

Star Conflict is space ship fighting game (I can't think of a better description) it isn't heavily focused on simulation nor is it overly arcade style. For me it hits a sweet spot in between. It combines elements for a lot of different games in order to give the player a fantastic choice for how they wish to progress in the game. There are PVP battles, PVE, space exploration, missions, special events and a persistent galactic map that corporations can fight over territories to control.

So many people have stated that the game is pay to win, which in my opinion couldn't be further from the truth. Yes you can pay for "Premium", the only advantage this gives you is you get more experience and money at the end of a battle. Your ships aren't better, your components aren't better. All paying for the game does is mean you can level faster. Even without premium though you can still level at god rate where it feels less like a grind and more that you are getting somewhere. I've played many games WoT, WoWS plus many others and I feel with Star Conflict the rate of progression is much nicer. As an added bonus if you work on levelling the ships to thei max you get an across the board experience boost that applys to everything. I've yet to play a game myself that does this.

I find it frustrating that so many people bad mouth the fact that you can pay for this game. A key point that it seems a lot of gamers forget is, games don't come for free and developers don't create something just for the enjoyment of others. A game is designed to make money, if a game doesn't make money why are the developers going to spend their time at work doing something for nothing. I could argue about this forever but that isn't what this game is about.

Star Conflict has a fantastic array of ships, modules, weapons all of which allow you to customise your ship to suit your play style and if your a team player, complement your team. There is a huge variety of ships each with their own unique role, playing a ship in the role it was intended not only makes it far more effective but as a pilot you become an integral part of your team.

There are 3 main factions in the game each with their own distinct ship style, Empire ships have small shields but great armour, Federation ships are a balance between armour and shields, Jericho are biased more towards shields. As well as the wide variety of modules available you also can further tailor your play style through your ground crew, which give your bonus's to your ships. You pick an "Implant" per level which acts like a perk, buffing certain aspects of your ship be it shields or weapons or modules. This means that you can really pick and choose which traits suit your playstyle the best and work for you.

There is so much to do in the game that after 70 hours I'm still finding more and more things to do.

The biggest drawback to this game is that it needs much more support, there is a great player base, but having more people would make this game truly epic. The devs actually seem to listen to the players and what they want. In game polls pop up periodically asking for the gamers points of view on potential features. Whats even better just for clicking you get given "GS" the in game currency you buy for money.

There are a plethora of premium ships you can buy, but you don't have to, they aren't better than the main ships. Their biggest benefit is an increased reward for playing them, nothing else.

I really like this game and would recommend to anyone to try it. Its free, give it a go and see if you like it. If you do join a corporation as soon as you can, its well worth it. Having experienced pilots around you can make a really big difference.

Not normally one given to reviewing a game I was encouraged to do this by a friend. I bought this game whilst on offer which given the price made it worth it. If you don't wish to read further then unless you like playing single player campaigns or are masochistic and like banging your head in frustration then DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.

When asked by the game why I uninstalled it here is what I wrote:

The balancing and resourcing issues playing multiplayer are appalling, it takes too long to be able to build a base and produce units which die in seconds.

The enemies seem massively overpowered and the enemy AI is very clever whereas your own troops are virtually useless without being micro managed. Having some sort of standby orders or even an order system similar to that of Dragon Age would work, this game does not.

The original was one of my favourite games, you felt connected to the characters, you wanted your squads to survive. The maps felt large and expansive. COH2 feels underwhelming with so many useless choices that detract from gameplay for example the commanders. Why not have an unlock tree so you can choose your own skill sets as opposed to predefined ones, that have abilities that you cant use, but arent made aware of before playing a game. You have managed to take a spectacular game and turn it unplayable. My friends and I used to spend literally hours playing the first, I have spent a grand total of 11 hours playing on steam and have uninstalled the game, probably to be never played again. Its such a shame that you can take an amazing list of ingredients and serve a dog 5h1t sandwich.

I tried so hard to like this game but its like having a really ugly annoying girlfriend, you try to like them but in the end they have to go.

Absolutely loving the game, bought it with all the DLC and it is just so vast with so much to do, you can find yourself getting lost for hours just doing side questes or even wandering around aimlessly but having fun doing it.

Character creation and skilling is great you can craft your character how you like picking and choosing skills as you need them, or want them.

Despite coming from EA this is a great game.

I was introcduced to the game by my son, who was looking for something free to play and fun. And boy oh boy it is just that. There is so much to do and anyone who likes a diablo style of game will enjoy this immensely. In fact having diablo 3 and this I would much rather play this game. The artwork is fantastic, very well done yet still feels like the comics from where the game came from. There is so much to do and so many characters, I doubt it will be a game that you bore from quickly. 10/10
