Quite possibly the greatest rogue-like/lite ever created

It's the first game all over again but worse because it's a roguelite. Superhot shouldn't be a roguelite, especially since the original relied heavily on level design to keep it interesting.

Fun puzzle game that is very polished. The puzzles don't challenge too much (I never spent more than a couple of minutes thinking of what I had to do next), but the presentation is beautiful. It took me about 2.5 hours to beat the game (including Winterfest), with 14/17 achievements gotten.

Although I'm not done with this game, I'm very happy to give it a recommend.
In my opinion Children of Morta sticks out in a few major ways
1: A focus on story (with an excellent narrator)
2: The best pixel art I have ever seen
3: The feeling that every run is useful (thanks to clever skills/leveling, which at certain points, grants every character a perk)
I would warn that there are performance and minor bugs. On a Ryzen 3600 and GTX 1650 super, it wasn't uncommon to see frame drops or weird graphical stuff before cut scenes started.
Of course, the devs are still active so hopefully this will get resolved before all the updates stop.

It's a good game with a few terrible levels at the end. What I loved about most of the levels is that every level can have crazy routes. The issue is that the final levels are not like this at all. Most need to be done in a very specific way that requires intense precision that is practically impossible to do without hours of practice. I'm not even kidding when I say 3-4 hours of my playtime were due to the last 10-15 levels. That being said, the other levels are a delight to play through and the momentum and sense of speed are great. I wish the soundtrack were more varied though as it doesn't sound that vaporwave-y and I just ended up using some of my own vaporwave music as a soundtrack (and there are very few tracks in the game).

Overall, it's worth a play for the unique concept and interesting visuals, but just skip most of the last world is you want to preserve your sanity.

This game is great. The premise itself is unique and interesting to explore (and a bit disturbing at times). I think this has some of the best voice acting in any game. The only issue I had is it seems the decisions that truly mattered only occurred in the last third of the game. Still, it's beautiful, well-written and interesting to play through.

I don't understand how this has overwhelmingly positive on Steam. The meta stuff was done better in Undertale and the gameplay is really simple logic puzzles and endless runner segments. Overall, it felt like a chore to play since the two gameplay types have been done before and are uninteresting. It tries to be scary (or funny, I'm not sure) but fails at it. I don't understand why you would play this game when all of its mechanics have been done better in other games.

Worth it for the soundtrack alone. Beautiful pixel art, challenging yet rewarding gameplay, and one of the few games out there that I actually felt I was getting better rather than numbers going up because of a new weapon.
