Part Star Wars, part Star Trek, Mass Effect pushed the envelope when it comes to traditional RPG methodology. It would be incredibly stupid not to invest in this game, which is well worth its price and is infinitely superior to some RPGs out there.
If you're torn between this and Fallout New Vegas, go New Vegas.
