Have you tried the Steam Client for Linux yet? It runs like a champ on Ubuntu 12.10 (64bit). Over 80 games have been brought to the Linux world -- including TF2, Crusader Kings II, and Unity of Command.

It has plenty of skilled people reading and responding to posts. The client also runs on other Linux distros -- Linux Mint, Gentoo, and even Fedora.
