hey man just wanted to let you know why I added you - kinda random but I'm trying to customize something about my dock and I can't figure it out, was hoping you'd have some idea of how to do it. it's not a general issue with cDock so I didn't want to open an issue on github, so I randomly decided to add you on steam, just in case you wouldn't mind chatting with me quickly about it.

Interesting that sounds a bit extreme just to mod TF2. I also don't really play much anymore.

I know its been a long time since the items_game thing, haha. Not sure if your still interested in it or not but recently something interesting was posted regarding it...

"What I've done for testing is to use a MITM attack. What that is, is I set a box on the network somewhere, and intercept messages from steam to my computer. That then filters out JSON requests from Steam and I emulate it myself with whatever item_games.txt I wish to tell my client. So I'm just lying to the game and saying I'm the Steam server via DHCP lookup.

MITM attacks are 100% undetectable by Valve since they happen on a layer above TCP/IP, so even if VAC was trying to do network analysis (which it doesn't) it wouldn't catch this vulnerability. MITM attacks happen on Layer 2 (Data) of the OSI model, and VAC can only see Layer 3 (TCP) and above.

I've actually built and constructed a cheat that works completely outside of the Windows environment, and works entirely on packet manipulation.
