Ok, first thing first do not buy this game expecting it to be a horror game because aside from the blood pools and masses of gore it is not scary in the slightest! Seriously! I found my first game of Minecraft scarier than this shit.
Regardless it is a very good game with a really interesting story, you are a member of F.E.A.R (First Encounter Assault Recon) and are basically charged with bringing down a man named Paxton Fettel who just so happens to command an army of incredibly squishy Replica Soldiers (Clones basically). There is also some stuff to do with some freaky little girl who keeps popping up and setting the room of fire (I've named her Betty by the way) but that's a bit later on.
Very solid combat with the Replica soldiers and there friends who all seem to possess some pretty intelligent AI on Harder difficulties and of course the guns are fun (Its got a gun called the Repeating Cannon for fuck's sake! What more do you want?!).
So yeah, get it :)

Battlefield > Call of Duty, that is gonna piss off some fanboys but I'm sorry once I played this game after CoD I never looked back!
Yes its made by EA so its guaranteed to have SOME bullshit in it (In this case the server browser is fucked and its connection is about as reliable as a Dial-up) but its still better. The game just feels nicer than CoD really, its kinda hard to explain. Guns have different strengths and weaknesses and are suited to indiviuals and the whole squad & team-based aspect is a really good change to those sad-os who prefer to lone gun it. Plus there's vehicles, did I mention that? Yes, you can drive a tank without getting, I dunno, 13 kills in a row or something xD

I've always held a special place in my heart for the Doom series. Those games we've all played and all enjoyed.
Doom 3 is tricky to review. Personally I enjoyed this game, it isn't so much scary as it is atmospheric although it does try to frighten you occasionally. But the guns all work, the enemies are soft and bloody and the same old tried and tested ID tricks are all here. Personally this game is almost exactly like Doom and Doom 2 in my books, same plot, same array of weapons only its been given an almost 21st century look and feel to it.
I'd recommend it to anyone who liked the original Doom however I'd recommend it more to people who were put off the original Doom, either by its looks or its age or whatever.
Its a solid game and I would say, for the price tag, a brilliant way to pass the time... And this isn't a spoiler but there Arch-Viles (The ressurecty ones from Doom 2) and Revenants in this one so just be ready for that....And there homing rocket, fire-asplody bullshit >.<
