I know people are hating on Battlefield 1 but people need to understand that Battlefield is its own series. Verdun is very good, it's funny sometimes and almost always fun to play and looks fairly good for what it's worth, but it is the most realistic setting WW1 game out there. Yes, it takes team tactics to win and yes, it can be slow at times but that only mirrors the real WW1 because the truth is, WW1 was not the most interesting war to have ever taken place. That being said, Battlefield is a cinematic movie-looking FPS series that's changed little over time: it's meant to be fast paced, it's meant to be fun, and yes, it's meant to be a little unrealistic if that means the game will be more fun overall. Don't get me wrong, I love Verdun, but sometimes I get the feeling that it's so realistic that it's never going to be as fun as a game like Battlefield 1 will be, to me at least. Just because two games focus on WW1 doesn't mean they have to be the same game, and doesn't mean they both have to be hyper-realistic to satisfy all the manchilds out there complaining about Battlefield 1. So if you want to immerse yourself in the WW1 atmosphere, if you want to get to know the guns/areas and factions and whatnot before Battlefield 1 comes out, by all means get this game. Don't expect it to be super action-packed cinematic goodness, because it's not. This is more of a simulator than what I think of as a FPS but like I said it's still very good. Don't expect this to be Battlefield 1, and don't expect Battlefield 1 to be like Verdun when it comes out later this year. I love Verdun, but I'm really looking forward to playing a fast-paced fun WW1 game that's willing to sacrifice some realistic-ness in the name of making a fun game.
