Early Access Review
Although very different from Monster Train, Inkbound is very good in its own right. Each Aspect (class) feels unique and is fun to play. There's plenty of build variety and a ton of unlockables. Inkbound is designed around co-op, but don't let that be a deal breaker if you prefer single player games. The solo experience is by no means lacking (at least half of my playtime is from solo).

Implementing the ability to buy what you want from the microtransaction shop would be "immeasurably complex" and "likely to create confusion and a bad player experience"[www.playdarktide.com].

Excessively supporting the microtransaction shop while releasing the game in a state neglecting, or outright missing, basic/core features (such as the crafting system).
Microtransaction shop leak

Microtransaction cosmetics issues such as clipping, missing or hidden[forums.fatsharkgames.com]
parts of the character model, and misaligned textures. All of this while charging more for a digital headband than one would pay for a physical one.

Weapon crafting "doesn't really fit the theme of the setting" but leopard print microtransaction pants do!

Weapon customization, though previously discussed during development, is scoffed at because
"this isn't COD".

No mission selection, secondary objective selection, or mission condition selection.

Impossible weeklies due to the RNG of mission availability.

Achievements/challenges that aren't just ridiculously difficult, but actively discourage teamwork and tank runs.

Mobile gacha mechanics in the weapon acquisition and crafting systems (what isn't still missing from the crafting system, that is).

I won't even touch on the myriad of technical issues plaguing the experience.

Core gameplay is there though. Slaying heretics is definitely entertaining, particularly with friends. That's too bad considering it doesn't outweigh the fact that everything remotely fun is buried under layers and layers of soul-crushing RNG.

Recommended if you dislike player agency! 👍👍👍

3/10--well done Fatshark.

The best way of describing Resident Evil Village is that it's all the best aspects of Resident Evil 4 combined with the best of Resident Evil 7.

That is a big deal to me because Resident Evil 4 is not only my favorite game in the Resident Evil series, but also one of my favorite games, period. Or it was until I played Resident Evil Village. While Ethan Winters is no Leon S. Kennedy, Village is truly the spiritual successor to RE4 and an absolutely perfect blend of horror and action.

I will admit RE7 was a bit (or a lot) too terrifying for me, but a return to the survival horror roots of Resident Evil with a switch to a first person perspective made it a great game. Village tones down the horror enough to still have terrifying moments without feeling like you're constantly about to have a heart attack, and ups the action with a lot more guns and a merchant, The Duke, to buy and upgrade those weapons a la RE4. If RE4 was your jam but RE7 was a bit much, give Village a try.

Lastly, I rarely, if ever, finish or replay a game in my library. At the time of this review, I have beaten Village five times so far and have started my sixth playthrough. Yup.

I played this game during the open beta and DESPISED it. It was buggy, empty, and boring. I cancelled my preorder and walked away.

Fast forward several years to today. Fallout 76 is not the same game it was at/near launch. It has its issues, but it is without a doubt what it was originally advertised as: multiplayer Fallout. In waiting I have reaped the benefits of significant updates that have added NPCs, events, deeper customization, and major content, all for free. I am enjoying my time in the game thoroughly.

I'm still not entirely convinced Fallout 1st is worth the cost of entry, especially when considering storage being pay-gated, but that's my only real complaint. Bethesda continues to make good QoL updates and I hope they continue on this path of listening to player feedback.
I highly recommend this game to people like me who walked away at launch but are curious to see how far it has come.

Is it a bit buggy? Yes.
Does it need optimization? Yes.
Is it a bad game? Hell no. Worth every penny.

Very realistic and demanding. Requires a lot of patience to learn and master. A lot of other reviews discuss issues with the devs, but I find the game quite enjoyable and worth the money.

It's hard to take the game's message about looking past race seriously when a major character refuses to call BJ anything other than "white boy".
