Greetings. I be a sort to whom gaming is the principal pastime, so it makes sense that I have a lot of things on this 'ere Steam-amajig. I tend to prefer the sort of things that came out during the sixth console generation, being a console gamer out of habit, but there are certain genres that only truly work with a mouse and keyboard, so there'll always be a place in my black, withered heart for the PC.
I frequently post silly ickle videos to YouTube and maintain an active blog, so feel free to check those out if you're so inclined.

The first of the Penumbra series and developer Fritcional Games' first commercial foray into their unique brand of horror, Overture gets the mood and sense of isolation right from the start. Your quest to discover the fate of your father in a secret base under the Greenland wastes becomes a struggle to survive a living nightmare, and if this kind of horror is for you, you'll absolutely love it.
By far and away the biggest problem is the ease with which you can bludgeon most monsters to death, immediately rendering them unthreatening. Luckily, it's entirely possible (though much harder) to play the entire game without killing anything, and this need to remain hidden or face certain death infinitely ups the fear factor. The sequel, Black Plague, fixes this problem without needing to play in a particular way, but Overture can be just as terrifying with only a bit of conscious effort.
Highly recommended and the game that got me into horror.

A masterpiece of tension and suspense, it takes a while to get going, but once it does, your odds of having a heart attack are extremely high. The atmosphere is so bleak and suffocating that you're a nervous wreck by the time monsters start popping up. Add an intriguing mystery to the mix and you have my favourite horror game ever. Guaranteed to cause messy accidents.
Not the perfectly-paced morsel that the original is, but certainly an expertly-prepared feast. In particular, the co-op is entirely unique and my personal favourite thing about it. No trouble recommending it.
