I've always had a bit of a love/hate relationship with The Elder Scrolls games. It is one of those series that is infamously known to be completely tedious and dull without mods, mainly because the game has a lot of shortcomings. But that haven't really stopped me from completing Oblivion several times (or rather, just play all the side quests and completely ignore the ghastly main story). Morrowind, however, will always be the unpolished gem of the series for me - up until Skyrim came out.
Skyrim does a lot of things right, but while it improves upon the terrible design choices of Oblivion, it certainly hasn't removed them at all or made them perfect and in that sense, it still feels like an Elder Scrolls game, in the worst kind of way.
I'll give this a game a good recommendation. It's a solid game in it's own merit, but not amazing or something that will provoke a lot of emotions. And, it's apparently a game that all the jocks play, like Modern Warfare, so yeah, there's that.
While I have put more than 30 hours into this game (Steam says 17? for some reason), I have come to enjoy just how advanced such a simple idea is. Cities in Motion is a highly relevant and fun game based on making public transportation work in the various cities around the world and it is highly addictive, if a bit bland once you have finally found the proper way to do things.
I'd really love to see a sequel to this game, which did away with the "only solution to earn money is to build a metro" and made it a bit more micro.
It is a highly recommended game for a casual player. I do enjoy it.
Just finished playing Bastion, an indie title released on Steam for mere no pennies at all. (Not free). 6-8 hours long + challenges and wow, this game just gets a hearty recommendation from me. The storytelling is nothing short of original and amazing. It gives the game such an intensity and personality like none other. Like having a personal, with an amazing voice, storyteller over your shoulder while you play the game. Gameplay is fun, but nothing exciting or dangerously original. It gets the deed done. Artstyle is, well heck, it's damn good. It's charming, yet frightening and the way the game is presented is phenomenal. It's really one of them "artsy fartsy" games everyone should give a try. And the music, don't even get me started! Just buy it, dammit.
