Pretty cool for a free game! It's got action game style combat, rather than auto-lock-on tab-targeting, so that alone is worth checking out.

Remember GunZ? This is nothing like GunZ. It's actually fun.

This is a great fusion of a first-person shooter and a tower defense game. Rather than passively setting up traps and defenses and hiding behind them, you're encouraged to wade into the fray and take an active role in defending your base.

An easy-to-pick-up strategy game that explores the balance between conquest and survival. You're fighting for control of an island, but to raise the funds necessary to build your expensive army and maintain your costly defenses, you need to sacrifice your own territory. There are only a handful of units and skirmishes are simplified to battles of numbers, but the constantly-shifting landscape and the emphasis on proper budgeting encourage deep long-term planning.

This is a nice little action MMO; it's centered around exploring randomly-generated dungeons in groups of up to 4 players, employing a combat system similar to the 2D Zelda games (striking at enemies and parrying their attacks with your shield). The combat is simple to pick up, but there's enough variety in weapon types and equipment to allow you to diversify and find a particular fighting style you like.

Of course, this is a cash shop MMO, and you're limited in what you can do by the stock of Energy you have -- you get 100 Energy over the course of a day, but it costs energy to descend to new dungeon floors, make your own equipment, unlock more than two weapon slots, or unlock the treasure boxes you occasionally find. However, the cash shop is well-balanced; there's no cash shop only items that severely unbalance the game, like in many other games, and since there's an active currency exchange, you can convert your Crowns (the money dropped by enemies) into Energy at a fair rate.

Jolly Rover wishes it were Monkey Island. That's not to say it's a bad game -- the art style is functional, the story is linear but well-written, none of the puzzles are too unintuitive or trivial -- but it's clearly striving for adventure game excellence and falling well short.

A solid 7/10, less if you're aggravated by pirates or anthropomorphic dogs or goofy accents.

Just another F2P fantasy heartbreaker MMO. Standard races, standard classes, standard button bar combat, standard unbalanced cash shop.

You'll like Puzzle Pirates If you enjoyed '90s puzzle games like Puzzle Fighter, Dr. Mario, Bust-A-Move or Yoshi's Cookie. The focus is purely on skill, and not how long you've been playing, what gear drops you've found or how much money you've poured into the game.

When they say "free to play", they mean it; you can easily scrape up the currency you need to afford the badges that unlock additional content. The community is wonderfully laid-back and helpful, and the visual style is unique. My only real complaint is that the client is a resource hog, especially for a game originally released in 2003.
