While the game's premise lends itself well to a copy of Kane and Lynch's award-winning (citation needed) multiplayer, it instead pays tribute to the Left 4 Dead formula. This is truly a game for today's generation, and by that I mean a ton of broken mechanics, impossibly hard AI direction, and incredibly stupid AI teammates. The biggest heist the game offers would have to be from the developers getting you to actually buy this game! SO EVERYONE GET IN THE VAN, BECAUSE IT'S TIME FOR A PAYDAY (tm) !
Killing Floor is one of those rare gems that come across only every once in a while to remind you of gameplay long lost. It is a retro trip into the days of an earlier unreal engine where everything is not as it seems. You take control of a young boy named Felip on his journey to avenge the death of his parents. Along the way, you meet a colorful cast of characters to fight back the evil armies of Dr. Floor until you reach your destination. Make your way to the top of the tower and you can have a one on one battle with the doctor of evil himself! Hang on tight because those elevator doors just opened; you are on the Killing Floor.
Sometimes, upon arriving at their computer in an otaku poster lined cubicle, a game developer will entertain the thought, "I wonder if this game is a little TOO good." You can tell this thought troubled Deep Silver immensely because they have gone well out of their way to make sure your game experience is a hassle. For starters, using two monitors is for wussies. Like a bouncer keeping your ugly friend from entering the club, Dead Island will just NOT run unless you turn off that second monitor! Thank god I only have to focus on one screen now. When you arrive at the character options, Deep Silver anticipated that some players will simply find four options to be too much, so they made only two worth playing. In all of their gratuitous and hardcore hours of play-testing, Deep Silver also realized that players were becoming too attached to their weapons, and therefore made it so faulty saves and glitchy collision will cause you to lose many of your hard earned katanas. Thank you, DS!
