Pretty cool game, very nice art style.

Though a lot of the gameplay is just walking forward and a lot of puzzles is trial and error which isn't too much fun, however still think this game is worth playing for the artstyle and settings alone. Just be ready for a somewhat dissatisfying ending on your first playthrough.
I played the entire game on my steam deck and it ran smooth like butter.

It's a pretty good remake to the original RE 4. The game is visually beautiful. They modernized the original's movement and shooting, something that wouldn't go down with a 2023 audience, however I feel like a lot of the challenge of the game was lost from the translation to tank movement to this more "traditional" third person movement. Enemies moving faster and being more aggressive is probably the intended counter the player being able to shoot and move this time (unlike the original) but I never felt stressed like encounters in the original RE4 would make me feel.
Ashley this time around is a lot better to control, in the original often just kind of stood there waiting to be abducted, but in this remake I felt that her AI was a lot smarter when it came to avoiding enemies.
I thought the expanded role of Luis was pretty cool- he hangs around for a bit longer than in the original.

However, if you thought that the novistadores were annoying in the original RE4 then you should know that they are overused to the point of it being comical.
They also managed to overuse the regenerators to the point that they were also not scary anymore and just a nuisance.
The new pig mask enemy that made its debut in this remake was never, outside the cabin fight, a threat to me and almost always died before even being able to attack.
Also, the change from a pin-point accurate laser sight to crosshairs that have wide bullet bloom and camera shake felt bad. A lot of the time I would have my crosshair dead center on a ganado's head but the random bullet bloom would make me miss multiple shots.

I don't know if it is nostalgia, but I prefer the OG RE4 over this one, since I prefer the originals gun play.

This game is really fun up until the enemies get guns and start hauling more rockets and grenades at you than you can count, and at that point it is just a bad cover shooter. The 3x3 inventory is really limiting and a downgrade from RE 4. I played solo and Sheva was for the most part a good AI companion with a few frustrating moments. Playing with friends is the way to go with this one.

So getting RE 5 running in 2022 and forward is a bit complicated and is something Capcom should have fixed by now.
Here's what I did to make it work for me, in the order I made them in:
1. Installed BH5-Fixes
2. Installed LAA 4GB Patch
Before this point the game still didn't launch..
3. In NVIDIA Controlpanel I changed perform scaling from display to GPU in the adjust desktop size and position tab. (You probably want to change this back to GPU when you're done playing RE5.. IDK)

At this point the game booted fine :)

I also recommend installing Resident Evil 5 - Awakening - True Colour. The green tint that the vanilla game is plagued by has aged like milk.
An FOV fix is also recommended-

Not as scary in its horror as RE 7 and not as great action as RE 4.. It's like a mix between those games but toned down, perfect for some but not for me. Still a pretty good game though with memorable characters and quotes.

Can't really say that I was satisfied with the ending. Felt like they were baiting out that the ending from the base game would be extended. I feel like some of my questions left over from the base game were answered but I also have new ones.
However, they somehow managed to make the House Beneviento segment even scarier than the base game was.

Probably the scariest Resident Evil game
Use an fov unlocker such as the one that comes with the reframework mod. The vanilla max fov of 90 feels more like 60..

Download and play with the RE 4 HD project that comes with RE4_tweaks, makes the game play and look so much better.
And even without those two mods it's still a really good game. My first playthrough was without them and I still had a great time. The only problem I had is that the Del Lago boss fight has really bad quick-time events on 60 fps and low health making the fight almost impossible if you reach orange/red health.

For an action game, DMC 2 has surprisingly little action
