This is absolutely not a "traditional" kind of videogame, and it's all the stronger for it. If you like good horror stories, fun mysteries, and metahumor involving maid outfits, this is probably your kind of game. If that doesn't sound like a good time to you, try it anyway because it is really is a unique beast among VNs and you'll find something to like about it.

This is, straight up, one of the finest action-RPG titles ever released. No foolin'. If you liked things like Secret of Mana or Illusion of Gaia on the SNES, or like Bastion today, you owe it to yourself to play this. Incredible gameplay, legendary soundtrack. It's wonderful in every single regard.

Is it a bit repetitive? Yes. It the action kind of mindless? It can be. Does the hero have ONE EXPRESSION for everything, ever? Sure. It's still a great "you are a stompy armor-suited war god" simulator and somehow, shooting green dudes never gets old. It helps that the character modeling in this game is downright ridiculous in terms of quality. Definitely recommended.
