Used to be one of my favorite games but past couple years the devs have shown increasingly poor judgement as far as additions & changes. Meanwhile, they fail to address commonly cited shortcomings that have existed forever. (Weak server browser, etc.) I have "supported" Tripwire for a long time by buying the skin DLCs etc. -- I even bought the weapon DLC but once I saw what it did to the game, I regretted it, severely -- but most of what they are doing these days just says "brazen greed" (this trend seemed to start right about the time the disaster known as "RO2" was released . . . coincidence?)

A graphical tour de force, a playability tour de suck...

Checkpoint-based save system; 10 confusingly-accessed, visually indistinct weapons, mostly of the "too weak" variety; an "enhanced vision" mode that kicks in when you're about to die, and makes it 10x harder to see anything (...and that's *besides* the "strawberry jam" effect that appears with equal intensity, whether you are hit for 95% of your health, or 5% of your health!); and a pompous, annoying narrator riding you the whole way -- this game has it all!

YMMV and there's certainly worse games out there for ~$5, but ... as cool as it is, it's far from perfect.

Gaming press made it sound like the 2nd coming of "old school", but it ain't all that, either. Sometimes, I'm just like ... "what school did these guys go to?!" Seems like it was probably abusive...
