Contrary to popular belief, I find I enjoy Starbound more than Terraria. To me, it's a more cohesive experience. Although, I really don't like to directly compare them. These are two wildly different games, anyone who has played them both can easily tell you that.

I love the changes brought on since beta 0.7, the last version I played before release. Combat is very improved from the previous weapon choices of gun, sword, slightly bigger sword, and explosive; the most effective of them all. Vehicles are pretty fun to ride around the planetside. The story is actually a story instead of a large string of loosely related quests, now. Monster generation is more streamlined to allow for uniquely named and designed enemies of all kinds for every playthrough. You can have an NPC crew on your ship so you and your pet aren't the only passengers. Settlements are pretty great from what I've experienced, although I haven't done much.

Overall: I'm just happy it's out of beta, and I look forward to the future of the game.
