Help Save THQ!
THQ Inc. was founded in 1989 in the United States. In the past 20+ years it has established itself as one of the major video game developers and publishers. Many of you will know of and probably own one or more of their games. Saints Row, Red Faction, Darksiders, Homefront, Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War - just to name but a few.
Through a number of destructive factors - and in truth, some of these have been brought on by THQ themselves - this developing and publishing giant is facing the biggest crisis in the history of its existence. The recession, a number of detrimental management decisions, continuous drops in sales of video games across the industry and increasing competition have forced THQ to lay off 240+ staff, close studios, make salary cuts and downsize their development functions. If things don’t improve for them soon, they are likely to be forced into administration.
For many of us gamers THQ’s titles have been responsible for hours of fun and enjoyment on our computers and consoles. They have imprinted themselves as fond gaming memories and experiences. That is why it is up to us gamers to now show our support to and appreciation of THQ. That is the sole purpose of this group. We will talk about and review their titles – both old and new – to ramp up a bit of attention for the games. The group will aim to hold gaming events on a regular basis as well and with a bit of luck, we will also manage to get some new gamers towards THQ games
We appreciate that not everyone will like THQ games. In fact, we understand that some people outright hate THQ games. If you happen to dislike THQ games and come across this group, we would kindly ask you not to troll and instead either be constructive in your criticism or perhaps even invite your friends to join “Save THQ” (as they might enjoy THQ games). If you couldn’t care less about THQ’s games, at least, please think about the developers, designers, producers and other artists that risk losing their jobs and livelihoods if this old development and publishing giant went bust.
Remember, this group is here to talk about, review and play THQ games – regardless of whether they are old or new – and generally get some gamer-love heading towards the guys and girls working at THQ. We are gamers and gaming is what we do.
SO, YOU WANT TO HELP?
Great! Right now, the best thing you could do for this group is to invite all your friends and generally spread the word. The more members we can get, the bigger our chance of making a difference and creating some awareness.
