Cave Story is classic in the every sense of the word. It is an action platformer with a minimalist sprite art style, a catchy soundtrack, and iconic characters. It is a masterpiece made by one man over the course of years of dedicated love and labor with a world that is both alien and yet familiar as a child’s bedtime story. For 10usd, it is a great deal, but it is hard to recommend.

Cave Story+ is a slightly different animal. The art is redone, the soundtrack is slightly altered, and some of the characters have modified text in a new translation. If you are dying to play Cave Story, the freeware is still available and a simple google search away. However, if you are looking for a new addition to your Steam library, Cave Story+ is as good a version as any.

Costume Quest is not a perfect game, but what it lacks in depth and complexity it returns full force in charm and imagination. If you enjoy Psychonauts or other Double Fine productions you can't go wrong with Costume Quest.

If you enjoy surreal adventures, moderately entertaining puzzles, and plot twists that will keep you up at night, then Puzzle Agent is the way to go.

Seriously. Give it a chance.

Imagine Lemmings. Then give them beards, swords, and the power to dramatically alter their environment by digging. Now you should have a good idea about Dwarfs!?.

You take the role of an overseer, controlling your mindless dwarves with floor arrows and doing your best to delay their inevitable extinction, collecting treasure and avoiding hazards along the way. It is all remarkably addicting, and combine that with a tower defense game, arcade skrimishes, and various levels of difficulty and you have a surprisingly great value surrounding the limited mechanics and premise.

Great game and easily worth it at full price.

A minimalist zombie invasion simulation with a charming art style and a non sequitur approach to humor. Atom Zombie Smasher is great for wasting a few hours, but if you are expecting depth and pacing it might be best to look elsewhere. Playing the demo a few times will approximate the full experience.

Worth picking up on sale, but at 10usd it won't hurt your wallet too much.

STALKER is a flawed masterpiece of atmosphere and emergent narrative. It belongs to an older school of design rooted in immersive sims like System Shock or Deus Ex, and every aspect is dedicated to the portrayal of a world gone mad. You wander landscapes littered with radiation and physical anomalies, surviving day to day to piecing together your past and the mysteries of Zone.

While STALKER isn't for everyone, it is one of the best open world games ever made, and only flawed in the respect that you are never sure if the glitches are by design or by technical error.

If you are looking to get lost in a game, you can't go wrong with STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl.

Greasy, bloody, chewy perfection.

What Super Meat Boy lacks in story, it returns a hundred fold in raw mechanics. If you are a fan of 2D platformers and old school difficulty, then Super Meat Boy will not disappoint.

BUY THIS GAME.

Deus Ex, for me, is a dangerous game. It is one of the few games where I can become so engrossed in the mechanics and storyline that I lose all sense of time. For a game made in 2000, that is an achievement which many contemporary games have failed.

On all fronts, the game has aged poorly. The AI is terrible, the combat can be esoteric, and the detail is often angular and artificial. Yet despite all these shortcomings and design artifacts, Deus Ex remains something timeless. An attempt at portraying an interactive world with a story that is worth telling. Usually it is around 10usd, and at that price it is easily worthwhile. If you enjoy games with philosophical overtones, deep emergent mechanics, or you simply enjoy lighting cats on fire with a flamethrower, you owe it to yourself to give Deus Ex a shot.

A charming game with platform based exploration, and interesting movement based puzzles.

If you have some pocket change to burn, the soundtrack alone is worth it.
