Early Access Review
The game has its quirks. You'll wall run and jump the wrong way or accidentally drop the gun you needed accidentally. Revives aren't animated yet and a lot of the time your teammates will just ignore them entirely.

But this game does a few fun new things with the battle royale formula that have made me keep coming back. First Vampires. It actually injects some fun Vampire plot points into the world including the Special Affairs Division (SAD) Squad, The Masquerade and Bloodhunts. Each of these have been tweaked to fit the core game loop:

🚨 Kill and feed on the SAD Squad for high tier weapons and to unlock additional blood slots.

🩸 Feed on mortals to gain permanent buffs for the game.

🎯 Avoid killing or being detected by other mortals to prevent being Bloodhunted and revealed to the rest of the map.

🌇 There is a lot of verticallity to the map so you can sneak in the alleys below and avoid detection or leap from the rooftops to cover ground quickly and scout ahead.

🔫 The guns feel relatively unique. The crossbows explode or create damage over time areas, the SMG can promote good stealth and the sniper rifle can be useful for picking off people from rooftops. It's still just clicking heads, but there is enough here to support your play style.

The anti-cheat is correctly being criticized here and there are a few other flaws:

💅 Cosmetics are limited or *very* expensive. A single high tier item that is typically locked to a specific Vampire clan costs $20. At most you can pick up 4 cosmetic items a day including hair styles, color, eye color, tattoos, clothing, jewelry etc. The limited store availability and relatively infrequent battle pass loot means most characters will be wearing the same leather jacket.

❇ Respawning is confusing and a lot of people ignore the mechanic. When your dead there is no way to tell if an ally is moving towards a respawn location or continuing to roam the map unless they text chat you or are in a voice call. Respawning also has no animations so if you pounce on someone reviving you might have their friend pop back into the game mid-fight suddenly. That isn't fun.

🦇 There are three clans with two distinct sub-classes per clan. This means you can customize your squad for a variety of play styles. Certain options seem strongly preferred however. In particular the Nosferatu is very common and leads to a lot of vanishing vampires. I think this will probably change as the meta develops and more clans are added.

⚔ Melee combat is... not good and feels very similar to Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines... clunky. There is no way to lock on so it devolves into you swinging wildly while super mobile vampires leap around and shoot you. This would benefit a lot from a few changes.

1️⃣ If you solo into a group lobby you seem to always pick last which feels awkward. It'd be cool if some mechanics were added to make joining these lobbies less annoying. I think the game plays better with team play in coteries vs playing solo but these quirks can ruin games.

🏠 Spawning in is done by selecting a location on the map and being dropped at nearby spawn points. This feels clunky in practice, I'm not sure how it'd be improved without drastic changes but it doesn't feel as satisfying as leaping out of a floating bus. It also means that map is less dynamic, if you want you can spawn at the same location almost every game.

Generally though it's a beta and I'm having fun so +1, it's better than I thought. I think some of the rough patches and mechanical issues need some attention though.
