Hard Reset is a great example of a classic-styled PC shooter done right. What I like most about this game is it's setting, a cyberpunk future on earth - with added killer machines that simply want you dead. Gameplay-wise, Hard Reset is a real 'blast' to play, and by 'blast' I mean - you can pretty much blow up something around every corner! Which of course comes in handy due to how overwhelmed you can be with so many enemies trying to gut you at once.
I would recommend this game to anyone who has loved either Doom, Deus Ex, System Shock or just even if you have a thing for futuristic cyberpunk world settings, such as you would see in Blade Runner.
Deus Ex, despite being released in the summer of 2000, is still one of the greatest role-playing shooter hybrids available on PC. If you're a fan of futuristic settings or the cyberpunk science fiction genre as I am, Deus Ex's storyline and environments should be right up your alley.
Set in 2052, you take on the role of JC Denton (JC supposedly refers to Jesus Christ) a rookie to an anti-terrorist organization called UNATCO. But things quickly get out of control and you are soon involved in a huge conspiracy involving various factions - including the Illuminati and the Hong Kong Triads, as you travel over the world to unravel this conspiracy.
The game allows a great deal of freedom and various choices - you will also have a few multiple endings to achieve. Deus Ex is a branching game, meaning there are always multiple paths to choose from, you could even choose to not kill anyone at all through the entire game - which is a lot more complicated to do than it sounds, trust me!
The greatest survival horror co-op video game available. It sets the right atmosphere for a zombie apocalypse and doesn't fail in terms of replayablitiy due to the randomized zombie spawn locations every time you play. The playable characters are all full of personality and easily likeable in comparison to Left 4 Dead 2's cast.
If you want my opinion on which Left 4 Dead game to purchase or play, I would surely choose the original Left 4 Dead over Left 4 Dead 2, simply due to the fact that the original L4D has a larger survival horror aspect and feel to it than the second title offers the player.
