Beyond Original.

I'm currently studying for my masters in architecture. I've been doing level design since '03 and am always learning something new every time I sit down to map. I have also picked up on audio, texture, and model editing. But these are just complementary tools for my real passion: level design.
-I'm the administrator and owner of SnarkPit.net, one of the oldest mapping communities on the Internet. We have a very large database dating back to 2001. We still host maps, downloads and tutorials/articles. We answer plenty of Half-Life and Source editing questions, so if you're a modder for Source or GoldSource Engines, stop on by the site! (link below). We have senior level designers and other art designers as regular members on the site and always welcome new users. If you're interested check out the site, or join our steam community group to get involved.

The Original Mapping Resource
This is the Steam group for The Snarkpit; the oldest still active game level design community on the internet!
Join the SnarkPit website (link below) to gain access to tons of community-built Source and Goldsource (half-Life) game maps and levels to download!
We currently hold:
+ 207 articles
+ 262 Downloads
+ 2,641 maps
+ We cover over 40 popular titles including mods (new and old) and retail games based on the Source and Goldsource engines.
Join us if you want to talk:
- About your maps, any artwork or utilities.
- About what it takes to get started in editing for the Source or Goldsource engine.
- To people who have been around for a while who know video games and level design.
- Any questions at all about editing for Source or Goldsource.
Don't be shy, we'll talk to you about whatever. Also, feel free to introduce yourself in our forums! We're a small community (since 2001) that has outlasted the instant rave of the fan-made start-up sites around when Half-Life was first released (1998). We stuck around because our community held a strong ethos of maturity and sociability. We've evolved over the years including several face lifts and site redesigns, but we're still the same good 'ol SnarkPit.
The current owner and administrator of SnarkPit is "Riven".

I've yet to beat the game, but I must say I was pleasantly surprised by it. Most people may tell you to stay clear of it because of the DRM, but the game runs fine and looks good. There is an offline mode, but it defeats the purpose of the online players. I thought it was worth the $6 I paid. It's almost like a light version of GTA, because it's an open-world with massive islands from Hawaii. You earn money to spend on homes or more cars to race with, and there's points given for modifying your character or discovering roads and stuff. If you like liked GTA IV and the racing parts of it, then I'd think you'd really like this game.
Just enough challenge without the frustration. A very noir, moody game that actually makes me scared in some parts; I didn't think a platformer could do that! Play this game if you like exploring strange places and solving puzzles. (BTW: works better with a controller IMHO).
I got this as part of the Humble Bundle, so I don't think I would have bought it on my own. However, this game has proven itself to be right up my alley. Watching the video, I thought they had sped it up. But that's actually how fast you move through the game, and it's delightfully rewarding when you make it through each checkpoint unscathed. The music itself keeps me coming back to play it. If you collect the optional discs, you can unlock new songs. They turn one simple game mechanic (gravity up or down) and make it interesting every step of the way. Get this game if you want a fast fun platformer that makes you think: " I couldn't play that!" -because you can, and it's very rewarding!
