Visit Tableflip's profileThis game hasn't really aged very well, at least in my opinion. Of course that's no reason not to pick it up; but if you do, realize that you play something that was impressive 7 or 8 years ago, and simply feels dated now.
Basically, if you like Batman: Arkham Asylum you're going to love this game. Although the sheer number of Batman villains sticking their noses in whatever Joker has cooking this time gets a bit overwhelming and makes the story more complicated than it needs to be, the gameplay is still the incredibly fun mix of stealth and rhythm and remains mostly unchanged except for a few small improvements; for example, it is now possible to block several enemies about to attack you at once by pressing the counter button as many times as there are enemies to counter.
SPOILER: You're going to need that in a certain boss battle. And I mean mash the counter button like crazy to tag all the enemies jumping on you at once. 20x counter combo? Hell yes.
After my first match against a CPU player, we both managed to kill about half of each other's populations. Hong Kong, Tokio, Shanghai, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York City have all been reduced to radioactive rubble, and about 100 million people are dead, with many more certain to follow due to radioactive fallout. I won because I managed to kill more of his population than he of mine, but victory in this game doesn't feel like victory. It feels like you lost slightly less spectacularly than your opponent. And that is exactly what a game about thermonuclear war should feel like.
