I'd recommend shank if you like side-scrolling button mashers. There's nothing wrong with that and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. It only took me a couple of hours to complete, but it was mindlessly addictive and I did it all in one sitting before I realized it. The bosses are kind of lame but stringing together 100+ hit combos using a chainsaw and guns is, of course, fantastic.
Oh -- you should also spend a few minutes rebinding the controls because I think the game tries to actively punish you for not using a controller.
