source and 1.6 only have a few differences. the maps in source often have random objects, 1.6 doesnt. the hitboxes are messed up in both, most say they are less broken is 1.6. The community in 1.6 is more veteran as opposed to source where everyone wants to be the best, you gain rep in css from scrimming, in 1.6 you just have to be good enough to get your name spread around, pubs or scrims, doesnt matter.
