Wrapping your head around the concept for this game might involve a few drinks. It's a horizontal-scrolling space shoot-em-up rhythm game played in reverse.
No, I'm not kidding. That's actually the concept for this game -- and it actually works. It's fun to play! I only wish there were more than 10 stages. The Challenge mode helps with the length of this game, and having a half-dozen difficulties doesn't hurt, but still.. only 10 songs plus the tutorial is a little rough.
One of the neatest features of this game is the ability to use a guitar controller to play it. If only I had one! I can definitely see how using a guitar would make the higher difficulties much easier -- but you can still play using your keyboard or a gamepad, so fret not (see what I did there?)!
Definitely worth checking out as a strange little indie rhythm game, especially for a low pricepoint.
Oi. A very pretty-looking game on the outside, Planetside 2 is perfectly fine for a free FPS. It just... oi, I really could have used a little more intro than some plot nobody's paying attention to, followed by dropping me directly into an ongoing game with little clue of what's happening around me.
That said, Planetside 2 appears incredibly in-depth, and the persistent server states make for interesting ideas; it really could use some more help for new players, though, explaining various game mechanics and controls; in one case, I was wondering if I was glitching up walls, before I discovered by viewing some tiny little meter that I had a jetpack. Huh. Would have been nice to know before.
Oh, and have fun being 2,000 meters from your next objective, and not knowing how to get a vehicle...
If you haven't played AudioSurf, you've missed an interesting way to experience music. Like many other games that procedurally generate gameplay based on songs you provide, it can be a truly mixed challenge based on your preferences; hope you've got a good ear for fitting songs. The gameplay is alright, although it can feel a little sparse with repeated play. Worth a look, at least.
