This game's biggest downfall is that it doesn't use its roguelite components well, overestimates the longevity of its content and lacks the needed juice for the core gameplay to be fun on its own. It just doesn't "work". It's technically functional, and it checks all the boxes, but man, you will not play this and feel excited, enriched or interested in going for another run.
I'm not recommending it because it's not worth your time. You can find better, more fun, or greater games. There's nothing unique or exciting here. Move on.

Good video game, very fun going pew pew with the laser guns. Decent replay value to boot, just an all round classic shooter with a lot of polish and shine for its time.

This game falls squarely in the NITW genre of "Millennial Games" as my friend 'lovingly' calls them. I prefer the term "Experience Games". They're games that are all about a very human, grounded experience with a tight zoom. As such, they stick with you via memorable characters and pleasant writing. A way to put it is that they're a curious hybrid of book and video game. The gameplay rarely tasks you with heroic feats, but that's not the point. The point is to interact, involve, immerse and ingrain.

A Short Hike's real power is that the gameplay is... well, it doesn't challenge you, as I said. It's that Spiderman 2 fun of having a REALLY solid movement system and an environment that lets (and encourages) you to enjoy it. hence, it's a blast and you'll be sad when it's over. There's plenty to do, sights to see, and some fun realizations that make you feel good. Which is what Experience Games are great for. That 'yes' moment akin to what Puzzle games provide.

There's a lot of talking and paying attention to said talking, but on the plus side you can skip a lot of it and get a skeletal experience, if you really insist. But at that point, you might as well not buy it. These games are about the journey. And what a journey it is. Enjoy yourself. Experience it.

To start off, Yellow Bird is kind, Duo can kindly leave the sequel and stop making me feel bad with those mean ol' eyes.

Anyway, Primer is great. Snakebird expects a lot from you. As in, the first few levels 'teach' you several rather important, intricate concepts at once. You unlock an involved level early on (S1) and it's just 'mean'.
Primer exists to soften the blow by teaching a lot of groundwork step by step. There's a lot of levels, but it's all step by step teaching so you understand concepts before moving on. This does mean puzzles appear easy and less dense, but that's not the point. Primer exists mostly so that Snakebird is an approachable affair. On that front, it... uh.

Well, I don't know if it succeeds. Snakebird still expects a lot very quickly. But at least you understand enough to see the gaps in your knowledge instead of floundering at basic mechanics. Funnily enough, Primer's final puzzle is barely on par with Snakebird's average levels, so consider this a low-cost investment to see if a real puzzler might be for you.

And it might be. Snakebird has some really cool puzzles that'll make you cheer for your brains for being so smart!

For 3 bucks you get something that might as well be a Flash Game Classic, a piece of Flash-Game history.
It's a decent enough puzzler, you'll get your money's worth.
A nice, straightforward game to play and enjoy.

Oof.
This game.
OOF.
Trine is such a lovely series. I loved this game.
Then the ending happened when I least expect it.
This is like the fireworks show to send off the old year, only it stops halfway through once it gets good.
It was fun while it lasted, but maybe get it on the cheap? You can 100% it in less than 6 hours so...
I'm sad, but sometimes the good guys finish last.

The shift to 3D was done extremely well, in a way that puts most old SNES->N64 games to shame. A lot of mechanics are missing (levelling up skills is one) so it might get a bit stale, though it's too short to get there.
I'll applaud the effort. The best I can do is hope for another one. Golly gosh.

I played this, then for an LP, then a few years later for the final achievements.
This game is majestic and wonderful and I'm kinda heartbroken there is no sequel.
The world, thin as it is, feels like something I want to explore more of. The Fluro are cute, exciting yet something to be respected. The puzzles are clever and sometimes amazing. It's sad that most upgrades are superfluous, especially since they feel like they could be used in exciting ways if the world just let it.
And the environments. Gorgeous. Beautiful lighting, painterly landscapes, a steampunk aesthetics that even I, not a huge steampunk fanatic, can drool over.

Vessel has a special place in my heart.
It's not a long game, depending on your puzzle skills.
But it's a truly wonderful game either way.
If you're a cheapskate, get it on sale. But trust me, it'll stick with you.

One of the puzzles is "use the key to open the chest to get the key to the door".
There's no obstacle between any of this. It's pure busy work.
There's also only ever one thing to do/get per screen, so you're often wasting MUCH more time with travel than anything else.
It's about 1-2 hours with no major draws or characters.

It's a simple (in the most literal sense) game with a semi-interesting gimmick.

For 19 euros you get a lot of hours of content.
The game's a bit slow, punishing at times and perhaps repetitive. If you never liked DF's end game, onyl the struggle to it, this game is perfect. There's no end-game economy, just a slow climb to reach the next level.

The game is mostly you sending dwarves to harvest resouce X or attack enemy Y. That's all you can do with them, though you can directly control one at a time (this is VERY inefficient). To aid their escapades, you can craft items (or queue them, if they require skilled dwarvish labour) and equip them or place traps and defences. Or use spells, like portals, to speed up their activities.
Mining, as with all dwarvish games, is a big part.

As you accumulate minerals, food and furniture, you are sometimes assaulted in a heavy siege, or find a loot-riddled dungeon. Ultimately, you wish to gather the plans for a portal and get out of there; it's never safe for long as sieges become stronger and fiercer.

Certainly, it's a simple game. It's not DF compelxcity, but if you just want a simple, slow game that goes perfect with a nice podcast or video, this is great for those! For 19 euros, you get a pretty solid game, with plenty of length and exploring to do.

Zack Zero starts slow, but ultimately picks up into being a fun little romp. While a little awkward at times, it's a fun thing to entertain yourself with. If 9 euros is too much, it's certainly worth getting during a sale, if you're willing to endure the very slow, annoying start.

Just remember that the first few levels will make you feel like it never picks up, and then it picks up and becomes a charming little indie title that could certainly use a sequel. In fact, I'd be sad if I'd never see ZZ again in a more refined form.
After all, most problems could be fixed with a few tweaks and some slight changes as well as a more intelligent design in the earlier levels. It's odd to see a game start bad and then become good, it's usually the other way around.
Honestly, my experience is a solid 7/10 overall!
