Impressive looking game, nice idea, terrible follow through. Gameplay is incredibly shallow, and every level devolves into a slow horrible grind in order to complete. Imagine trying to stop a sink from overflowing by building a small wall of sand. Now imagine doing that for six hours. The slow quicksand death feeling born out of the two-steps-forward-one-step-back gameplay is exacerabated by the intensely aggravating use of sound: while well produced, the urgent chants and warning horn sounds produced at times of danger (which is all the time, past level three) loop endlessly, driving daggers into your brain.

The atmosphere and character of the game doesn't quite capture the magic of the original but it deserves high praise for trying to rebuild it anew, instead of just rehashing all the jokes and moments from the first game. Gameplay wise the new elements are fantastic but there's no fiendish end-game superpuzzle synergy of elements like in the first game, and generally all challenges are spelled out to you through room design, robbing the player of the kind of success felt in the last one. The hardest part of each room now is finding the highlighted square on which to shoot the next portal.

You don't own this already? It's the best shooter out there for everyone except absolute hardcore gun-humping sperges. It's monstrously easy to get into and yet still rewards skill and experience, it's pretty as butt and it's got content coming out its ears seriously why haven't you bought it yet.
