This game is that really cheezy sci-fi zombie B movie that looks to have a decent budget & despite being corny & dumb you really respect it & find it very entertaining.

Dead Effect 2 IMO is a very fun game, with a surprising amount of content to it. There's a lot of voice acting, for better or worse, the art direction is really good, and the combat feels great for what it is. I found the game to be very well developed in a lot of areas. Enemy veriety is pleasantly diverse, & there is a great variety of weapons to choose from as well. Starting with generic pistols, shotguns, and rifles, all the way to swords, exploding crossbows, and disc launchers among other sci-fi weaponry. Dead Effect 2 has a loot & gear system not too dissimilar from games like Borderlands. You find, buy, and earn weapons, armour, and other miscellaneous items to use and to improve your statistics like health & stamina. I find they did decent at this aspect, and it is satisfying to min-max your weapons and gear. Every mission you do from the central hub gains you credits along with any items found, that you can upgrade your weapons attributes with, or buy new weapons and gear from the people around the hub. There is also a leveling system that along with straight stat upgrades, also give you access to powers like shooting lightning or making an explosive AOE attack.

Along with all these cool things I wrote above, there is multiplayer for when a mission is too hard for you, or if you just want to have extra cheezy fun with your friends. The missions themselves have a decent bit of variation to them, with normal kill everything & leave missions, to ones focused more on finding items, & even missions centered on fighting bosses. All of wich are fun and satisfying short romps that gain you more gear & resources to spend at the hub. The level designs themselves are decent, with good looking environments & enemies, but with occasional frustrating level layout. Such as: the area you need to get to ahead is only accessible via the roundabout staircase, and since you can not jump over the gaurdrails, you have to run all the way around. Also, sometimes I feel there aren't enough healing stations around, meaning you'll have to stock up on med kits.

While I very much like a lot of this game, it does have some problems. First & foremost, yes I do believe it is a mobile port, similar to Dead Effect 1. This can cause some to be apprehensive, & rightfully so, but I do not feel that this apprehension is warranted for Dead Effect 2. The developers made sure the game had plenty of options like FOV, Anti-Aliasing, and so on for the PC crowd. Despite having some limitations: not being able to jump, and some very obvious mini-games when hacking or opening lockers, this game works great as a PC game, & seems to have been developed with PC in mind just as much if not more than the mobile version. The first levels start off somewhat dull, but once you start getting multiple weapons to try, better gear, & get to the levels a bit further into the game, it really shows how epic the combat & action can be.

Overall, if you don't mind a fairly dumb story, with some very questionable voice acting, & also enjoy FPS games with lots of variety & action, then this game is great. It has some surprising depth in its story, most of which can be read on optional tablets and in game emails. A lot of the game looks great visually, & feels great game-play wise. I feel that $12 is a very good price for a game that seems to have a lot more than 12 hours of content, along with multiplayer. I reccomend this just like I would reccomend a very cheezy but heartily entertaining action movie, if you're looking for fun, you'll most likely find it here.

Thanks! I do hate when a review is just "Thumbs up good" or "Thumbs down bad". I need to know why it's good or bad. Thanks again!

I found your review very well written and extremely helpful. Too many people just thumbs down a review without even reading it, if they don't like a game. Those kind of people have no respect for the review system and they don't care about seeing that good reviews like yours get the attention they deserve from potential buyers.
