Honestly, this felt official.

I do wish the puzzles were more difficult - nothing I felt was more difficult than the puzzles that were in the main game of Portal 2, though I did like a fair few of the one-portal puzzles, as they had me think in ways that wouldn't have been possible with the full portal gun.

But other than that, though? It's good stuff, apart from the anticlimactic ending.

Early Access Review
It's a Picross game made by Jupiter. They're kinda really good at it.

Surprisingly, it's much harder than the other Jupiter Picross games I've played - but I honestly really like that. It's nice having puzzles that challenge me even early on!

Now that the game works properly and I've been able to play it, I think it's about time I gave the game a proper review. (As opposed to the game crashing on boot - that's been fixed)

It's a fun game.

I'm still a bit wary about how the game handles its premium currency (Super Credits), but you seem to get around ~15 per mission and each mission seems to average about ~30m long. Due to this, I've ended up saving around ~810 SC just from missions alone (excluding Warbond rewards), which seems.. only SLIGHTLY slow. Certainly a lot better than I was *expecting* at any rate, but time will tell if the game keeps this up.

Consider this a cautious thumbs-up. The game's very fun, but... the fact that the devs could alter SC gains at any time (or just ramp up prices) is a looming threat which concerns me, but for now... it's fine.

Update: Now that the first Premium Warbond (Cutting Edge) is released, I can say... that it's actually quite reasonably priced. It only costs 1,000 SC (though realistically 700, as you get 300 of it back) which is easy enough to find when exploring in missions, and the Medal costs to unlock the things in the Warbond is actually lower than I expected. I love it when games don't force a pointless grind.

Fun little Hybrid Rhythm Game.

I know some of the later characters are gonna tear my hair out if ever I do attempt them (I'm so glad I don't feel compelled to 100% games), but it's still a fun game to jam out to.

My main criticism is that enemies don't scale up nearly as fast as the player does - this is a game where the earlier levels are way harder than the later ones. Once you make it to Svartalfheim, more often than not you've already won.

A fun little twin-stick looty shooty game, with a story that honestly just reminds me of a Saturday morning cartoon.

I do wish there was less singleplayer-restricted content though, especially at the start.

It's a great game with an enjoyable aesthetic, a very good soundtrack and some pretty fun gunslingin' gameplay to boot.

Being able to customise your bullets with different effects is interesting, though I do wish there were more powder options overall. Most of my decisions really boiled down to "Let's just get this for the Spell Power bonus", usually in regards to increasing spell speed and that.

Main criticism? The ending. This is clearly an Early Access game. It may have released as 1.0, but so did Terraria, and that game didn't even have Hardmode when it first released. After defeating the final boss, you're pretty much met with an anticlimactic "There'll be more coming soon!" message and not even a final cutscene.

I *am* interested to see what the future holds though.

This is a game about guns.
There are a lot of guns.
There are sometimes things that aren't guns. Unlike another game about guns, these things that aren't guns aren't a bad thing.
There is a lot of gun variety - each gun feels very different even before the randomised traits are added.

also you can play as a cat

It's one of the good ones.

Honestly, I'd put this game on-par with Colours and Generations, in both their strengths AND their flaws. Frontiers 'aint a perfect game by any means - but what Sonic game is, honestly? Even still, a game doesn't have to be perfect to put a grin on my face for pretty much the entire experience. Even the part I expected to be mediocre (the Cyberspace levels) turned out to actually be quite fun.

I definitely know I'll be coming back to replay this one later, just like I do with Colours and Generations.

Surprisingly few bugs too - I can only remember three, and two of them are just nitpicking: sometimes rings rotate sideways, and the shader on the chaos emeralds only seems to work twice a second, causing them to be in two places at once. As for the major bug... I once boosted off a ramp and Sonic just decided that his people needed him, and I ascended forever. And yes, weird floating point glitches DO occur after you fly so far. Sonic's model gets real warbly after 1,000,000 units of distance. Though gonna be honest, that bug was hilarious and only added to the enjoyment of the game (plus, I could just fast travel or reload my save at any time to get back to solid ground, so it's not like I was stuck up there)

Edit: Hoo boy Update 3 sure is bad though
