The Lions' Den
To whom do lions cast their gentle looks?
Not to the beast that would usurp their den.
The smallest worm will turn being trodden on,
And doves will peck in safeguard of their brood.

Right off the bat: I can't stand tower defense games. I love Plants vs. Zombies, though. They get it right - it's not confusing at all, like most games of this style - it's pretty easy to learn, and they start you off slow. It picks up, though, and gets much more fun as the game progresses. At times, it's pretty funny, too, and the music has a tendency to get stuck in your head, forcing you to go back and play some more. Highly recommended.
How can anyone dislike this game? I don't think I've met one person who's played Portal and hasn't enjoyed it. It's just long enough that you'll probably beat it within a few hours, or a couple of days, max. But it's worth it! It's a puzzle game in the form of a first person shooter, with a great plot and fun characters.
It's a first person shooter, and an RPG - in one. Level up, shoot bad guys, drive cars, upgrade your weapons. You gain unique abilities early on in the game, and hone them as you continue to play. Weapons are completely random - it's fairly normal to find a shotgun that shoots fire, for example. Fun as hell, single-player or co-op. The DLCs are worth getting, but the game itself will keep you occupied for a while.
