Contagion isn't a bad game. It has a fantastic concept and it could be loads of fun to play with friends. Frankly, I wish there was a middle-of-the-road option, because I don't want to not recommend this game. But when it comes down to it, I'm going to have to say to pass. The main problem I've found is a lack of a tutorial of any sort. You're thrown into the game, and you better hope you remember what all of the controls are. The punishment for dying is also a little harsh. If you die in a server with player zombies enabled, you might spawn in a location that you can't get out of. Thus, you're stuck there until a player makes it there. And zombie mode just isn't fun. And if player zombies are turned off, you play as a supersonic cockroach after dying.

I'm not one to jump in and play in a random server, so I'm not complaining about the lack of community. Setting up a private server is a pain in the ass though, mainly due to the fact that I have crappy internet and I would rather not pay to host a server for a game my friends and I might play once a month. That isn't the dev's fault, but just something that I'm not too big of a fan of.

Pros-
Gameplay Concept: Contagion's concept is great. It's actually not a bad game, but needs some serious polishing.
Guns: The guns in this game are great. I like the accuracy and sometimes the lack thereof. I also love the fact that you have to manually reload.
Variety of modes: Contagion has a lot of maps and modes, and that's always a good thing.

Cons-
Controls: The controls can sometimes be a bit wonky, and there are so many features that you have to remember a crapton of inputs. There's a steep learning curve for controls.
Death punishment: As I mentioned above, the punishment for death is far too harsh where it's quite easy for a zombie to kill you.
Melee combat: Close-quarters combat in this game sucks. It is just kiting back and forth, hoping you hit with it. It's not that hard to hit something with a wrench. You don't need to wind up every time.

All-in-all, I'd give the game a 6/10. It could definitely use some tweaking, and once that is done, I think the game would be fantastic and I would gladly change my review to "recommended."
