I used to be in the Adelaide LAN scene quite heavily, involved with LPC and StreetGeek doing mostly network administration and software development. During my time with the groups, I was also pulled in to special events with AVCON, SAGAfest and Reloaded. I did that for about six years, raising the bar at those events (and in turn, for other events in the state).
I've made plenty of friends (and enemies) along the way. I'm a very result-driven person, and I hate it when people are just full of hot air or in it for themselves. Honesty, openness and integrity are big things for me.
Running the events left me really drained on multiple levels, so I'm instead focussing on what I love -- software development. I've got my own personal projects and some bigger ones in the works. I still LAN, just with friends where things are a lot smaller scale and I don't have to deal with the public.
That being said, if you're running a major LAN in Australia, I'm a good person to chat to about it on a technical level (and even some non-technical levels). I've often done all the hard work on a problem already, or have solutions that could drop right in. I can also get you in contact with people who'd love to help you **and** are brilliant at what they do (a rare breed!). My email address is on my website if you want to chat about this stuff.
I'm currently in the process of collecting all my projects over my time running LANs and releasing it under an open source license. There's way too much "not invented here syndrome" with closed, internally-developed solutions within the community, and I think it's about time that we recognise some common ground here, and open things up so we can work together.
I also have yet to find a good, gamepad-based console FPS that doesn't control like a walrus in an electric wheelchair.

Best with DJ JTZ vs. Vuvuzella remixes.

Extremely buggy, infected with GfWL, SecuROM, and Rockstar's own "Social Club".
Fun when it isn't BSOD'ing your computer.
