Vizitează profilul lui Angry DragonThis game is amazing. I love exploration in open world games and this has it in spades. There are two ways to describe the combat in this game, realistic or non-existent. The goal is not to stop the thing that is hunting you, that would be unrealistic given the basic premise of the game. The goal is to figure out how to avoid harm while searching the islands for clues on how to survive. There are only a very few things that I wish they had spent more time developing, such as the crafting system that could have used a bit more depth, the draw distance is pretty short at times, and the story is a bit light, but none of those issues detract from how good this game is at atmosphere. It's worth noting that this was developed by just two people and it's even more impressive when you realize they built the engine from scratch.
I played the demo of this back when it came out on XBLA and the basic concepts really hooked me fast. This game borrows mechanics from other more popular and successful games but does a really smooth job of assimilating them into the gritty post-apocalyptic setting while still making narrative sense. It's not a very long game and I have no pressing desire to go back and collect all of the achievements, but I thoroughly enjoyed the journey from beginning to end and I highly recommend it.
The line in the description that best sums up this game is "...design philosophy that focuses on creating a rich experience rather than an elaborate puzzle challenge." All told, I got 100% in 2 hours but I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the journey I had reaching the end of the story. This isn't so much a game as it is a work of interactive short fiction. I'd like to think that the Implementers would have created something similar, had Infocom not been assimilated by the Activision-Borg collective. If you're the kind of person who can objectively enjoy a game for what it is, instead of comparing it to similar games and picking it apart for not being something more, I highly recommend playing through it.
