It's kind of a shame that typical point and click adventure games are not nearly as much a dominant genre as they were in the 1990s. But that doesn't mean that great adventure games can't be made. Behold, the spiritual successor to Monkey Island, Deponia! A harrowing, high stakes adventure filled with action, drama, romance, poetry, puzzles, suspense, humor, quirky characters, and platypuses! As someone who grew up on Ron Gilbert and Tim Schaefer Adventure games I cannot stress enough how much this game impressed me. It is everything an adventure game should be and more. The puzzles can be a bit difficult and sometimes it's unclear what to do next, but it's all worth it for an ingenius plot, well written characters and the platypuses!
